There are a lot of drugs at schools and at the parties that they go to. You don't need money yourself to be exposed to it.

I've not done it myself, but some parents enter in a "contract" of sorts. I pay for your fancy education and you stay clean. Intelligent kids get it and buy in to the idea that it's an investment for their benefit.

What's the difference between the above and our club expecting the NYC team to be clean ? Almost same age some of them. Our club tests regularly.

The club is an employer, not a parent. I am not saying that parents shouldn't ask their kids to stay clean, but ffs it's only high school. Testing kids for drugs is very shit parenting

As I said, I don't do it, but many do. As to your claim that they are shit parents, I think it's a matter for each parent to decide, based on their unique circumstances. I don't think that you can really judge from afar.

I'm sorry, but if we can judge from afar on everything else in the last 50 or whatever pages, we can judge from afar on the kind of helicopter parent that would drug test their kids. I find it an absolutely appalling notion.

Hey Baz, this is like the second comment at least over the last 24 hours where you seem to be saying recreational use of illegal drugs is ok.
Is that your stance?

If so, what limits do you apply in regard to volume of use and age of user?
High school kids (under 18) can do 1 single line of coke and that's okay? What about 2 lines? Or 3?
If 17 year olds can, then what about 16 year olds, or maybe 14 year olds?

When my kid gets to be 13 or maybe 14, should I let her head out and take 3 or 4 lines of coke and not worry about it?

I know you are talking about the testing being the problem, but these days kids learn to lie to their parents about everything. How should these limits be parented?

My stance is that many illegal drugs should be legal, and all drugs should be decriminalised. I have no issues with my mates doing pot or ecstasy or the odd line of coke any more than I do with them doing shots of Jaeger.

Also, I fail to see how thinking it's appalling that parents drug test their kids is either supporting or condemning illegal drug use. But anyway...

Abject stupidity of the last line of that comment aside, alcohol is legal and controlled. As is tobacco. Why would any other legal drugs be any different? Believing that pingas should be legal and controlled does not even remotely equate to saying "let's give drugs to kids!"

Well the parents I know who do it are far from helicopter parents. In fact their kids are independent and come and go as they please. One parent has a kid with prior form, another parent considers his daughter to have the personality that requires boundaries. All kids have and need boundaries, its just that in this instance they are administered differently.

Also I might add, these boundaries have been imposed on the kids in their HSC year.

Tbh as far as I'm concerned drug testing your kids IN HIGH SCHOOL is helicopter parenting, plain and simple. High school is so irrelevant to your life as a whole. But it is also a huge slap in the kids face. I'd have left home if my parents did it, and I wasn't even doing drugs. Every parent has the right to parent their kids in the way they see fit so long as they come to no harm as a result....but others have the right to be appalled by it as well, and I'll be very interested to see the relationships between some of these parents and their kids ten years down the track.

A lot of this stuff is mixed in some guys home, and i doubt any are lab experts. They are cut with who knows. 99% is fine. But 1% could end very badly.
And for you dope smokers, i remember once being given stuff unknowingly laced with ketamine as a 18yld. One of the worse expericences ever.

I dont think the issue thou is death. That would be very uncommon for most these re creational drugs. I reckon its more mental issues that could come.
I wouldnt trust any tablet even legal ones. Ok bar anti biotics. The rest are back by these big financial companies. And many only been around 20yrs with no real idea what long term use does.

Id just tell your kids these other risks. Most would think of only death. Says who eckies arent sapping all the serotonin out of ya brain and when these ex nightclubn pill popper reach 40s they turn into manic depressants 15 yrs since theyve taken?
They dont study this stuff at all

You don't get along with your parents at all?

Only if their f**king parents give it to them. If they didn't feel so guilty about not having time for their kids they probably wouldn't throw so much cash at them. But they do.

If you read what I said in context ...

You can chose not to give your kid a black amex, but half his / her mates will have one anyway.

Kids these days are flush. Like it or not merkin.
