Like I said prior Hoffman is fine as a player. But with Bevan also in the side i feel 2 of our back 3 are small.

No problem mate.

I was just disagreeing. I think the bigger mistake with Paulo thing was that we didn't seriously try to find another good big guy to replace him (Vave is fine as a bench player, but not a starting prop). It's like we took a punt on the game switching toward a smaller forward's game. Which it patently isn't.
That's an excellent point Barry, but we were hardly in a position to go out and find another good big guy at the time. You know, salary cap scandal 'n all.

Some animals use tricks in order to appear larger, such as making their hair stand on end or just puffing themselves up. Maybe if we got French some neck tatts, made him grow his hair and hold his breath when running the ball it could be problem solved.

Sure, but Jnr was pretty much gone before that shit completely hit the fan. I'm not suggesting that we should have looked to spend huge $$ on a big guy. But what money we did have left went elsewhere.

We can talk all day about what forwards we should sign or keep!!

But really what we need is our spine to really get some games together!!!

Can't remember the last time our spine was settle and we had no injures

Yes he was and his departure probably saved us next to SFA in the cap, but we couldn't exactly be seen to be making signings while at the same time pushing out players to save points. FTR I think Evans and his long arms will be a great buy for next year but obviously that doesn't help us much right now.

Don't forget when Paulo was off contract, we had Foran on a 4 year contract and there was no indication of the current cap increase or our salary cap issues.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing .....

Nobody can fully understand the effect Foran's late departure had on our recruitment, it definitely has effected this year's line up.

Same thing happened with Hayne late in 2015.

So one could say -

2014 - massive improvement from previous spoon years. Missed the finals only on for and against.

2015 - a year compromised by the hayne departure. Many said we would get the spoon.

2016 - Enough points to make the 8, taking into account the cap debacle and Foran not playing, Norman out for half a season.

2017 - comprised by Foran's late departure.

Really have to feel sorry for Brad Arthur. 7.5/10 considering the circumstances.

We'll see what he can do when luck runs his way.

I touched on it in a blog I posted today but we have had 5 different spine combinations in 11 games this season. Of those 11 games, only Kaysa Pritchard (our weakest spine player) has spent all 11 in his starting position. Clinton Gutherson has 6 games at five-eighth and 5 games at fullback. Corey Norman has only missed two games (with more to come mind you) but was clearly hampered for a couple of weeks by the same hamstring injury that saw him miss Round 3. Norman, French, Takairangi and Robson have all spent (or will in Norman's case) significant time on the sidelines.

Our issues team-wide clearly extend beyond an unsettled spine but a fair chunk of our execution problems can be at laid on the never-ending forced reshuffles.

f**k we're hopeless ... i mean, it might have been ok if we offered and then st george blew us out of the park with a later offer, but i doubt that happened
Definitely didn't happen. Why would a player sign elsewhere if we had already made him an offer? It just doesn't make sense.
