what's meehan ever done that's remotely even close to what lodge has done?

25 Jan 2017

In 2015, Willis Meehan was given a good behaviour bond without a conviction after he headbutted a man and stole his watch outside The Star casino.

He was also convicted and put on a good behaviour bond for assaulting a taxi driver in Maroubra and admitted to working as a standover man for underworld criminals to pay his debts.

He spent last year in reserve grade for the Sea Eagles however the NRL had yet to clear him to return to the top grade.

An NRL spokesman said Meehan's matter was still before the integrity unit and they had been considering a proposal for him to play first grade this year.

after watching the video's in TCT match review we need a new hooker, Kaysa as tough as he is really has no game awareness and is very sloppy with his passing from dummyhalf. Moses' great hands the only thing that stopped a couple of turnovers. Even inside their 20 Moses has to catch a ball behind him and slightly high on the last then put in a grubber, that split second he loses can be the difference in a good kick under pressure or a great kick with more space.

He just needs to play 60 mins

I have to agree, even if he jumped first, Lodge was convicted. I'm sure the police weren't to be swept under the rug for some trouble Meehan got into to avoid scrutiny to Manly and the NRL

Awful what about the one he got caught napping and they knocked it out of his hands on they're line? His service seriously hampers us when attacking in the opposition 20 and even when we rarely get over the advantage line and are winning the ruck at certain stages his service, crispness in his delivery and his decision making kills us.

Hooker is so so crucial to a teams success, Peats is a huge miss I can't say it enough!

I would consider bringing in a 14, or moving Pritchard to 14, his better off the bench when the other team is tired but he is certainly not an 80 minute NRL standard hooker and it's hampering us severely.

Not sure what the options are but how bad could King or Nelson be? But then that raises issues about carrying enough forwards, I don't have answers but we need something to change.

An 80 minute hooker who's decent would be great.

Why did they allow Packer, Wicks and Manu back into the NRL? Why is Meehan any different if he's showing rehabilitation and doesn't carry a criminal record.

Dummy halves often get the ball knocked out of their hands by the markers and it's a penalty every time. Kritchard was no sloppier than any other dummy half in that instance. He was just unlucky.

Does not change the fact he is shit, let's be real if you honestly believe he can get us where we need to be then we are watching different games.

Yeh, but apart from all that, he's got a good record.

You've got to ask yourself the question why the club is putting energy into signing a player who another club tried to get cleared by the NRL only 4 months ago, but was refused.

The clubs recruitment priorities are all wrong

I can understand the headbutt and stealing the dude's watch at The Star.... Have you ever noticed there's no f**king clocks in that place?? If I'd just done my arse at the tables and needed to know the time, I'd probably headbutt the next merkin I saw with a watch too...

Do you really think the club is putting their 2018 hopes into a youngster with poor behaviour problems and one nrl game to his name ?

It's a low risk project that will cost the club f**k all cap space but has the potential to be huge success!!

Just like how the club spent 6-12 months trying to get Manu a visa so he could join the club or recruiting Edwards from park footy on the Gold Coast.

Sometimes it pays off sometimes it doesn't but it's low risk and potentially gives us some pretty good cap value if it succeeds!!

Plus we assume the bloke with the watch was some kind of virtuous victim, but in my experience anyone with a nice watch is an absolute f**kwit. The watch was probably just pretext for Willis belting some merkin who was begging for it anyway.

My thoughts exactly. The Ma'u comparison is apt. Or was it girt?

Maybe the clubs priorities are to help reform criminals and not actually attempt to win a Comp....

Where does the article say that the NRL refused him clearance. The way I read it, the NRL were in the middle of considering his case when he quit/was released to focus on boxing?
