I don't have an issue with signing Meehan the player, he's obviously low risk salary cap wise. My issue is spending time on a player that only four months ago another club was probably told that he won't be registered. If that was the case I don't see the point in trying again so soon.

Even if he doesn't get registered until next season, what possible harm does it do? He was cleared to train with Manly. As long as he gets to train with the squad and work on getting footy fit for next season, we still win.

Exactly. And if he doesn't get signed off on I'm sure that we could get Wenty to offer him a large enough deal that will allow him to train full-time. He can also then be selected in the ISP if we want him there. That way he only needs to be signed off by the NSWRL rather than the NRL.

Just watched a few of Meehans boxing matches. Opponents weren't spectacular but gee I'd love to see him up against Gallen.

Unfortunately we might end up with Lichaa or Rein or someone I have no clue about which is more likely

Peats’ Origin honours cuts no ice as Eels pull offer

Interesting that it is basically saying that he was using our offer as leverage. And we are after Connor Watson. Good player he can play hooker in a pinch.
Getting selected for origin should have little bearing on what you're willing to pay a player. If anything it should push their price down. I'd be happy to have him back but we know peatsy likes his money.
