Glenn Stewart played origin in 2011, yes, as a replacement in game three. But it doesn't change the fact that he was not a middle forward in the modern sense. He was more of an extra half. Same as we tried to use Sef Paulo, except he was shit.

In 2011, the "middle forwards" were the props. Glenn Stewart was not a prop, he was a floating ball playing forward. Therefore, Manly had no current rep middle forwards. Simples.

Actually Watmough was playing in the middle in 2011 with G Stewart on the right. Check the highlights (Skip to about the 3.00min mark if you can't be arse watching whole thing)

Are you all there?

I said that a high quality spine is more important than a rep forward. In what universe does that equate to "Alvaro and Mannah will win us a premiership"?
They go hand in hand majority of the time, even though the Dragons in 2010 didn't have the worlds greatest spine if we are honest.

Yes i've been here all day listening to all your philosophies.

The past couple years suggest that middle towards are nearly as important.

It equates to the bit where Kite and Galavao were supposedly average and won a comp, why can't we if we get a good hooker to finish off our spine and win one.

Watmough was a backrower in 2011. He only moved to lock when Glenn Stewart became less effective a few years ago as the role of a lock changed. At the time Stewart played as a ball playing middle forward.

Once again, moving the goalposts....

That's bullshit, Glenn Stewart was the right edge backrower wearing 13 and Watmough was the lock wearing 11 in Manly's 2011 GF Team. Just as Hindmarsh was the Lock wearing 11 at the back end of his career.

Here's is some vision of the 2011 GF. Stewart is playing like a right edge backrower and Watmough in the middle.

Its about the squad as a hole Bazal. What the Storm had was a once in a lifetime SPINE. The best hooker to play the game, one of the best fullbacks in history and the AUS halfback. This will never happen again. It only happened due to NRL wanting a team in Melbourne to be strong and a massive amount of rorting to keep the team together.
Manly may of had a soft front row but a great spine not counting Lyons - Matai and great second row with Stewart and Watmough. Tafua and Matai played like forwards.
So you agree you don't need a huge Origin class middle forward?

Stewart always (at least since his peak) played right edge forward. Warmough played on the left until Tony Williams emerged as a forward, which is when Watmough moved to the middle.

The pattern they used in the grand final does not mirror the whole year, you realise? They played a tighter structure in the GF so that they could be more direct against the big Warriors pack. And it worked beautifully.

But they still got there without an elite front rower and with a hugely quality spine, regardless of how many times you change your criteria

I went back to the year 2000 and every NRL premiership winner had a middle forward who either played origin or a test for Australia/New Zealand

Yep, which is the year we are talking about when they won the premiership (2011)

In the year they won or just any time in their career? Would you agree a former (or future) rep player isn't the same as a current one?

They all had current players rep middle forwards. Who do we have?
Oh but Brown might be one and Mannah was one does that work?

We have been "what ifing" for 30 years and won f**k all.

In short we have none and we need one, plain and simple.
