With the ridiculous leg ups they get, their junior talent base, fan base and their never ending TPA's plus the Thoroughbreds they really have been the biggest underachievers in the NRL.

The comp every year is set up for them on a platter actually it's hilarious their lack of success the last decade.
Plus what you didn't state was that there are almost no refereeing mistakes that go AGAINST Brisbane. Even if the bunker gets it wrong it favours Brisbane. And look at how opposing teams are penalised while Brisbane do exactly the same and get away with it, particularly at Suncorp!

Let's be simply honest here, it's borderline embarrassing, one comp in 2006? And the one before that was 2000?

So with every bit of aid they get, they have really f**k all to show for it. I get that we cannot talk and I would kill for 1 premiership but with everything in they're favour that's quite the underachievement.

The day a second Brisbane team is born will be the day the Broncos will never be the same again, that silver spoon will be ripped from them.

They have done well in the sense they make the finals every year but they have nothing to show for it, hence why I think what the Roosters have achieved in the Sydney market, is much more admirable to that of a one club city super power who have won really nothing for 10 years.
Djay you are right but my focus is on Parra and their continuing non-success. There is no guarantee we will make the 8 this year, and based on recruiting so far, next year either. If we miss out this year it will be 7 years since making the finals, an appalling record, and probably the worse in the comp!

If we don't play Finals footy this year it will the 8th consecutive season without an appearance and yes you are correct in your assumption - that is the worst record of all teams in the comp.

We have games to come V the Titans, Dogs x 2, Knights, Bunnies and Tigers plus the Storm without Cronk, Smith, Slater, Chambers et al.... if we're a fair dinkum Finals contender we should be winning all those games...

Hang on - who does he drop? More importantly, who does he replace them with?

Assuming blokes from the ISP were in good enough form to warrant a call up, BA has to be astute with the cap, too; he can't just promote blokes without repercussions.
Not another who accepts mediocrity. You must accept our recruitment is poor and some players need to be dropped. French, I am a fan of his, but he has been poor since coming back from knee surgery. Needs to be dropped to regain confidence, Gutho to replace him. Gennings or Dane Aka....? to the centres to replace either Taka or Auva'a (they can't do any worse, can they?). O'Brien is another park player and we have heaps of them along with Mannah, Alvaro and Matagi. Vave can be destructive but plays only short minutes and seems well over-weight. Moses defends too upright imo so gets pushed off too easily.
Anyway, sounds like I'm a big whinger, but just look who Cleary has purchased in a couple of months compared with us. I can guarantee those purchases will propel their team into the 8 while we twiddle our thumbs hoping to make the 8! Those players were available, BA knew it, but did nothing, that is what I'm whinging about.

I agree - a little disappointed with Mannah.

He's normally very good, but he's been down on form.

But I agree with everyone else - I'm so frustrated by this club. It's irritating.

But I honestly think we are doing the best we can with what we have.

I truly believe we are turning the corner.
Unfortunately we have been turning the corner for over 30 years now and have ended up our own arse.

Tims contract is reportedly well over 500k but only 270k is on the cap.
please correct me if im wrong about the 270k figure but its right around that give or take 10k, he is our long serving player.
WTF, I hope not. He is only worth $270k imo as wouldn't make most teams top 17 roster except probably poor 'ol Knights.

He's probably still on more than $300k. He was worth at least that last year. I even said he would be our best middle forward.
Sorry Pou but if you keep making statements like that and previously about Mannah you're going to lose any credibility you have left.

Both Inu and Mateo could have been great but seemed to lose interest when they went to Warriors. Inu, in particular, could be absolutely brilliant in the Hayne mould when he put his mind to it.
INU was never the same player after he got injured in round 1 in 2008.

How do you know that BA 'did nothing'? Perhaps a club that had just cleared the salaries of its 3 highest paid players, plus Moses, might have had a few more $$ to spend than we do? I can see Wests imploding again next year if they lose a few early.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that our performance at every level over the past decade or so has been awful. But you have to be careful not to throw out the baby with the bathwater (disclaimer: do not try to your baby out with the bathwater..they don't like it).

Agree... Max will give Bernie a budget that Bernie can support as being necessary for development and improvement of the football program. I don't see Bernie asking for less for Juniors if that is where BA and co think they can get the best long-term value.

And seeing as Bernie regularly attends our junior rep games he knows the importance of developing your own talent. He's an "old school" sort of person in that regard.
