Parramatta Eels to re-sign Corey Norman, Jarryd Hayne next

Corey Norman has agreed to a more than $2.2 million three-year deal to remain at the Eels, and the club will now turn their attention to capturing Jarryd Hayne too.
The Sunday Telegraph understands Eels management will meet with Hayne’s representatives in the coming days to gauge their former captain’s interest in returning to the club.
The Gold Coast Titans are expected to make a rich pitch for Hayne, while St George Illawarra will also pursue him after missing out on Norman.
The Eels finally have some clarity surrounding their salary cap for next season, after finalising Kieran Foran’s release on Friday.
They are also awaiting clearance from the NRL if they are able to spend the full $7.1 million dollar salary cap next season.
Foran’s early exit from the club will free about $1 million from their salary cap.
While Norman has received a significant upgrade, the Eels still have the freedom to land a marquee player next season.
While Hayne toys with the idea of playing rugby union in France, there is interest from the Eels in bringing Hayne home.
The Eels are without a fullback with veteran Michael Gordon switching to the Roosters next season, while Hayne could also make a shift to the halves to partner Norman.
Norman’s re-signing was seen as pivotal for the Eels, following Foran’s departure. The five-eighth is suspended until the end of the season, and fined $20,000, for various off-field incidents.
Norman’s indiscretions include; his conviction of drug possession, a police warning for consorting with criminals, filming incidents involving apparent drug use and sexual activity plus distributing the video to other NRL players.
Foran is expected to have accepted a $150,000 pay out to end his troubled nine game stint at the club. Despite their troubled 2016 season, the Eels will still field a strong squad next year.
Their depth will be tested after Nathan Peats and Junior Paulo were squeezed out because of salary cap constraints while Anthony Watmough has retired because of injury.
The club is expected to add Manly prop Siosaia Vave to the squad next year.
Meanwhile, Parramatta’s new board — headed by Max Donnelly — has wasted little time in trying to turn around the club’s troubled front office.
The search has officially begun to find a new chief executive and a head of commercial.
The board’s first appointment is expected to be finding a replacement for Daniel Anderson as a head of football.
Coach Brad Arthur is likely to select the club’s new head of football within weeks.
