Yes, so when he started he was on around $800k under the Salary Cap, but then all his TPA's were included under the Salary Cap, hence is value increased to around $1.2 million under the Salary Cap. Given that he only fulfilled 75% of his contract (November to July) that would put his cap hit to us for 2016 of between $800k and $900k

Plus a likely 150k payout

Season ending injuries can strike anyone regardless of price. Hayne missed 21 games between 2012 and 2013. It happens.

You've obviously misunderstood what I'm trying to say. As he was released on Friday, we only paid him 75% of his yearly salary (November to July is 9 months), as I'd say we stopped paying him from Friday. So if he had not been released we would have had a salary cap hit of around $1.2 million for the year, not around $800k (give or take $100k on either figure).

The difference being the storm players were registered NRL players at the time.
Hayne isn't, so they can really decline to register to him for what ever reason they want, whereas to de-register an active player would require sufficient evidence etc

Well refusing to comment on a serious allegation should easily get you deregistered.

To me, the storm players had ample opportunity to clear their names of any wrong doing. Them declining to talk, more than likely meant they were upto their eyeballs in shit too.

NRL will now focus on wrong doing by player managers/agents as much as possible first before delving into any possible wrong doing involving players.

Let's admit, the media are probably right more often than wrong.
About stuff that will never be proven? The media have an incentive to sell cool stories, so they are likely to either overplay (OMFG he is on too much!) or downplay (OMFG how did they get him so cheap!) the values on such an emotive issue as someone's salary. I don't trust the figures at all. The best we can hope for is speculation based on known values (such as minimum salary, the size of the cap, and the mean salary).

I don't think the NRL will really want to go after players and risk weakening an already fairly low player talent pool. Yeah they will talk it up and maybe scapegoat 1 player but i think they will see how bad it will make their product look if a dozen or so top line players are de-registered. Obviously I'm not only talking about our club, more if they actually went after all dodgy deals

I hope the NRL suffer a minor, but annoying, head cold.
Mate my cousin played Presidents cup for the Eels back in the day.
He retired at 22 to preserve his nose, he had dreams of being a banker.

Now he is 50, and has a minor head cold. All he is doing right now is sitting in a chair. Bravely refuses the Demazin, says it isn't bad enough, just annoying.
I think it is safe to say Baz that you are a germ of the highest order.

I agree completely

And we are talking about the man who loves to talk it up being in charge here

If you look up the word "plodder" in the dictionary, there is a mugshot of Shaun Fensom. He's basically a direct clone of late career Ben Smith
Fensom is a much better player than Ben Smith ever was. Much higher work rate in defence and attack and better quality in both.
