I may be wrong on O'Brien, I'm just going off the zero tackle off contract list and it's never been 100% accurate but I've certainly not seen anything re Terepo re-signing.

So if they're not being retained Lawrence is a handy signing (hypothetically). But I'm more interested in why it means our cap isn't great? I would think you would have more info than just a potential depth signing to make that comment so I'm curious, as your info is generally good.

I do think a lot of people are operating under the impression (delusion?) that the NRL will buckle to the clubs that have gone and overspent and set a higher cap. Which actually would be bad for us because it would mean that no clubs are forced to release players and we might wind up playing well under the cap....

So basically we have a bit of money, but depending on what the cap is we may have "solid signing" money rather than "quality signing" money?

I've heard a rumour that, along with the clubs that are banking on the nrl to cave, there are a couple of clubs (with suspected more pull with nrl) that have gone over a little bit and if the nrl don't cave they'll argue they shouldn't be penalised for nrls slowness. So they'll have definite advantage next season plus potential to double down that advantage for years after

People need to look at next year. All we lost is Semi and replaced with Moses who would cost a whole lot more.Also Kane Evans would be costing atleast 300k.
Even if we where 800k under the cap this year there is Moses money. Semi was only on 250k odd. And sure the cap goes up but I am sure guys like Gutherson,Bevan need decent upgrades.
While other plays contracts probably have increased contracts knowing cap was going up.
This year wasnt a year for debutants but next year Ray Stone and Niakuore maybe NRL hopefulls along with Dana Aka and GL. Thats potentially 4 cheap options.
