You must have missed the 2005 season when he was outstanding for us. Sure after his injury he was never the same but for a while there he did serviceable job in the backrow. In his last few years he was an absolute plodder but we can thank Hages for signing him on a four year deal.Mate, Smith was an ok centre before he did his knees, but nothing special. After he did his knees he was terrible, could hardly even run.
Fensom at his best had a great running game and has always been a terrific defender, often making over 40 tackles a game and it was not unusual to see him notch up over 50. The Qld origin camp said a number of times over the years if Fenson was a Queenslander they'd pick him for their team. And they've been pretty successful over the past 11 odd years.
These days Fensom looks tired and word down. That's not to say with a change of club and new coaching he might not find some of his best form.
But he was and still is a much better player than Smith who was ok at best with a pretty small work rate.
Fensom was only ever average and it now an absolute plodder.
But it hasn't.
Yes 2005 was his best season, however he was surrounded by quality players that helped lift him.You must have missed the 2005 season when he was outstanding for us. Who cares what QLD think, they also reckon Daley should keep his job, Fensom was only ever average and it now an absolute plodder.
Of course Fensoms stats crapped all over Smith, Smith was a centre then an edge back rower with no knee Cartlidge, Fensom is just another stats padder.Yes 2005 was his best season, however he was surrounded by quality players that helped lift him.
Fensom's work game stats crap all over Smith, much better runner of the ball, a meter eater (especially at his best), a bucket load more tackles, more work off the ball with support runs, quality second phase off loads. And yeah Qld have been successful for a reason so anyone who wants to be successful would look at what they do and listen to what they think. Fensom is a no nonsense, get the job done type player who had many good seasons of top quality work and was Canberra's best of close to it for a few years. Ben Smith never achieved anything close to that for us.
I think we'll have to agree to disagree.

Are we allowed to do that?As I said, we'll have to agree to disagree.
Not until Pou says uncle. Are we allowed to do that?
Yep.I think we need to find a good hooker along with someone to play in the halves and a top line front rower.
If Gutherson went into the halves and Bevan to fullback we could go that way and find someone on the wing.
If we can get a half, a hooker and a prop for the price that Hayne allegedly is after (which is possible) the choice seems obviously easy to me..Yep.
And chasing Hayne next after Norman won't fix any of those squad priority areas - hooker, halfback (or winger), and front rower.

3 Players > 1 Player no matter who that 1 player is.
Yep, exactly.Everyone was more than happy to pay a pill popping, gambling, depressed half with no kicking game $1.2m yet if it's Hayne it's not on.
Depends on where Hayne is going to play. You still get the 3 players if we sign Hayne, it's just the other 2 will be of less value. Seems like Vave is a done deal. If we end up with Hayne, Norman and Vave and Pritchard becomes our 9 I'd be pretty happy with that.
Depends on where Hayne is going to play.
I've been saying that I wouldn't mind trying him at 6, with Norman at 7, But I don't think we should be paying 7 figures for him. When you take 2/3 years off there has to be some drop off in your value.
I'm not saying we shouldn't sign him as such, but if it costs us signings in key positions that we NEED, then I don't think it's a good idea.
the only thing I don't like about hayne is the way he converses with the refs. if he fixes that, he's worth every cent in skill and marketability. on a side note, dugan has been a sour puss ever since he left, is needs someone in the game that is better than him so he has an unachievable goal to reach
