B Smith before he didn't his knees was an excellent centre, then did a serviceable job in the back row. Fensom was only ever just a decent first grader.
Mate, Smith was an ok centre before he did his knees, but nothing special. After he did his knees he was terrible, could hardly even run.
Fensom at his best had a great running game and has always been a terrific defender, often making over 40 tackles a game and it was not unusual to see him notch up over 50. The Qld origin camp said a number of times over the years if Fenson was a Queenslander they'd pick him for their team. And they've been pretty successful over the past 11 odd years.
These days Fensom looks tired and word down. That's not to say with a change of club and new coaching he might not find some of his best form.
But he was and still is a much better player than Smith who was ok at best with a pretty small work rate.
