How ordinary was Tepia Moeroa again against a very weak Melbourne storm. What a useless palooka.

I would love to trade him for someone like Shaun Lane from Manly. Now there is a player with size, ball skills and work rate that I would love our coach to put the effort in to make him a consistent star player. Lane has so much more potential then our talentless lump Moeroa.

Boy do I hope that these Manly salary cap rumours are true and they will need to offload a player or two. I would jump at him in an instant. Or better yet we should offer a straight swap of both players. Two birds one stone.

Interestingly the rumour was that Manly was our main competitor to re-signing Moeroa this year. Apparently they made him a very attractive offer!!

.

So....the Storm forward rotation included J. Bromwich (close to the best prop in the game), K. Bromwich, Finucane, Tohu Harris, NAS, Francis Kaufusi and Nate Myles. They certainly weren't weak up front.

There are certainly players I'd swap Tep for, but Shaun Lane is not one of them. He's a travelling disappointment.

Moeroa played long minutes, with half of them in the middle. Made 36 tackles with only one missed.

How many forwards were starring in the NRL at age 21?

Starring is hardly what I would call it thus far. I would think jarring or marring are words that better describe his efforts to date.

Sorry but the guy offers very little to our team other then what a solid defender would with no attack whatsoever and he has shown NOTHING to suggest that that will ever change. And if it doesn't change significantly by the time his contract is up, I would get rid of him in a heartbeat and use his 4-500k or whatever he is on and get a guy who can tackle AND run the freakin ball!

You guys do realize that that depleted Storm team on the weekend should have been prime picking for a big strapping wide running palooka such as Moeroa right? Yeah sure they still had a very good forward pack, no argument there, but out wide they were a shambles and he should have worked out with our playmakers how to run the right lines to exploit the weak fringe and centre combo that had presented itself to us during the game. But instead he was getting smashed by three or four defenders almost every time he touched the ball. He has no footy smarts at all and it is becoming so damn obvious by the mauling he continues to receive from the opposition.

Good attacking forwards know how to get in positions to break the line without copping such heavy treatment from the defense. He has learned nothing in this regard and one could say he has actually regressed. I'm sure he is a nice guy and all, but he is not worth more the 250-300k at best.

No but starring is what you seem to be expecting from him. He is not even 22 and already a genuine first grader in a finals bound team. He is playing long minutes, surpassed only by Ma'u and Brown in our pack. He's also doing more than either player at the same age - in the year he turned 22 Nathan Brown only played seven games, and averaged 27 minutes, 52 metres and 15 tackles. Moeroa has already played 64 NRL games (14 already in 2017) and is averaging 64 minutes, 89 metres and 29 tackles. He is not an attacking player, he is a defensive workhorse in the middle who also defends safely on the edges. His versatility is what makes him so important to our team. And being so young he has a lot of improvement in front of him.

Unless Tepai can shift his average run metres to 150+ per game, with 3 LB's per game and 70-80 post contact metres per game, he is going to be nothing in the eyes of the Ram. Get used to it guys.

So true. Even then he won't be happy.

Rammy is a deadset halfwit and far too stubborn to admit he was wrong.
Shaun Lane is 2 years older than Moeroa, but still a fringe first grader in a team whose biggest weakness is his position of preference.
Further, Lane has had exactly 3 (three) games in his entire career where he has run for more than 100m. Three.
He has also made more than 25 tackles just 4 (four) times. Four.

Moeroa averages 29 tackles this year (TWENTY NINE). That follows his 30 (THIRTY) per game last season (28 his rookie year). This year alone Moeroa has run for 100m in more games than Lane has in his entire career (4 - four - games this year Moeroa has made 100m, and he averages a very healthy 86).

If we were to offer Manly a swap of Moeroa for Lane, they would take it, laugh at us, and everyone on the forums (except Rammy) would be blowing up deluxe that we swapped a very solid, young, first grader for an older fringe first grader who has played 1 good game in 3 years.

One of your best Rammy, how much are tickets for the comedy show??

I don't really know why people get so fired up over Rammy and his obsession with Tepai.

The bloke thought Anthony Watts was a future superstar. That's all the evidence you need regarding his talent spotting abilities.

No Baz, Watts WOULD have been awesome, except circumstances conspired against him. Moeroa is crap despite being good, and Shaun Lane is good despite being crap.

Ram will go into hiding for a week or so, come back next time Moeroa only makes 30 tackles and 80m in a game, and declare himself grand poobah again.

THE Auckland Nines will be scrapped next year with the pre-season competition axed from the NRL’s crowded scheduling.

The World Cup final is not played until December 2, meaning a host of players would be unavailable for the tournament — which is usually played at the end of January — once they have their entitled break.

It is understood the NRL has plans to revitalise the concept once it takes control of it from 2019. Perth and Brisbane loom as potential hosts.

It is understood the NRL are open to the idea of inviting English Super League teams and potentially international teams to take part in a hope to renew interest in the concept.
The temporary scrubbing of the Nines and All-Stars game means only pre-season trials and the World Club Series will be held before the kick-off to season proper next year.

Of all the places to hold a Rugby League competition in January. I would have thought Brisbane and Perth would be near the bottom of the list.

I suppose they do only have to play for 9 minutes at a time, but still.

As we have said many times before - Rammy could find something to moan about after winning Lotto.

That's all well and good but in how many games this year has Moeroa run for 100 metres? When somebody finally answers that I'll stop bagging the merkin!

I agree majority of the time on Moeroa, his far from where I expected him to be currently. His always been talked about being great but he just rarely does it consistently, his one I wouldn't lose sleep over if we lost him.

Saying that he played very very well against the Dogs and if he played like that more often I woudl rarely complain, I just feel like he needs to pull his finger out, issue is we have been waiting for 3 years and his only done it a handful of times, when is he gonna wake up and realise how good he could be and get some mongrel and energy?

By the way you'll find Shaun Lane was let go by the Dogs to swap for Fatala-Mariner from the Warriors last year, then released by the Warriors not even a year later, simply because he has big attitude issues, so we can do without him. Paasi is someone I would be after, and really wished we got NAS.

I saw Lane playing for the Blacktown Workers a few weeks back. Despite being named at prop, he played most of his second stint at centre. He's a cat. All he did was run at Jeff Robson who cut him down every single time he got the ball. We picked him out in defence numerous times.

Lane may have more talent than Tep (he doesn't) but Tep has a few things that Lane will never have: heart, courage, and a good attitude.

NAS is only good because referee Smith blinds the actual referees from him being offside constantly and laying in the ruck all the time. If he played for Parra he'd be giving away 3-4 penalties a game, guaranteed.
Yea, good point whoever comes from the Storm to us would probably play like a reserve grader tbh, but his a big body would have served us well.
