If as reported Semi isn't back by tonight I'd fine him big time. We should not pander to any player no matter who they are. Haven't commented about the situation yet but I don't have a good feeling about him. Hope I'm wrong but it seems like it's all take with him and no give.

Lara Pitt just said we've granted him till Wednesday now.

While I sympathise with the sentiment, I'd tread more cautiously. It's not something the club can 'take back'. And you don't want to do anything that could lead to a 'constructive dismissal' case later. There's not a lot of upside to an effectively leaderless club taking strong action at a time when our season is likely to be pretty much over, and there's plenty of downside. I'd do nothing until we speak to the bloke in person (assuming he doesn't just do a runner).

Of course we have...

Then Wednesday will become an an extra week, which will then become a 'mutual' release from contract...

Hope I'm wrong but I can see it happening, the club just don't want to say "he's walked out on us" as that's another kick in the guts to the fans.

If Semi doesn't come home I hope we stop him from playing rugby overseas. These idiots need to know what a contract means. Let Semi stay in Fiji earning f**k all till the end of 2017.

Are the club's only options to let him go (and free up cap space) or stop him signing elsewhere at the cost of keeping the cap liability? If so we can't win.

The whole situation is really sad, and it couldn't make this season already worse, but it is trying.

Our one shining light this year has been Semi (I've not forgotten about Norman), and the team's consistent form, which he has been a massive part of.

I'm sick of this shit.

Because value means getting more football for less cost on the cap. It's only partly related to how good the player is.

Really? Well, I never.

I agree it doesn't necessarily equate to better value, but it potentially does,

Of course it "potentially" does.
Your use of the word "potentially" is just an excuse for an argument and you trying to control the argument by carrying it on without substance.
It's fascinating to see that there are two people on this forum that cannot restrain their desires and cannot help but dominate.
One tries to argue people to their death, and the other lamely attempts to make people laugh yet consistently fails.

The forum is going to the dogs sadly.

I think value is heavily related to how good a player is ... parra could get great value out of me playing for a pie n coke after each game .... of course i would probably let in 5 tries a game ... so maybe not great value after all :D

You might be happy to play for a pie n coke, but if the club wanted to put you in the NRL team, they'd have to pay you $85k minimum under the cap

Yeah it's definitely another kick in the guts for us fans. The older I get the less I care about Prima donnas. I'm not saying Semi is just yet, as we've been given conflicting versions of events from the press. But if he doesn't want to be at our club, show him the door and move on.

I don't see how anyone can control anything on this forum. Our opinions stand on their own merits. As usual you're free to disagree.

I doubt the NRL will still count him against our cap if he walks out on us.
Even if we do stop him from playing elsewhere.

Agreed, doubt the NRL will make it any easier for a player to break a contract and leave for another sport. Oh wait this is the NRL we are talking about

Semi's France move
Vuniwaqa Bola-Bari
Monday, June 27, 2016
SEMI Radradra has revealed to an uncle whom he is currently staying with in Fiji that his move to France was only known to him, his manager and his coach.

The uncle who does not wish to be named said Radradra, who had now become the most talked about rugby league star because of his intention to switch to union in France without finishing his signed contract with Parramatta Eels had been told by his manager to make the move.

Radradra's uncle said the former Fiji 7s rep and now Kangaroos winger Radradra did not want media attention and revealed that the move was not supposed to be known.

Meanwhile his former partner, Perina Ting spoke to the Sydney Morning Herald said Radradra had always desired to mirror Sonny Bill Williams in making a switch to union.

Ting told Fairfax media that his decision was probably made in February and earlier this year, she claimed he told her to be ready to pack her bags as they would go to France.

Ting said she felt for the club because Radradra seemed to blame the club for his situation.

"I feel for Parramatta because of everything they've done for him, and he just walks out for no reason," Ting was quoted saying.
