SEMI Radradra’s manager has given his guarantee that the Fijian star would be back at Parramatta training on Wednesday and a definite starter in Saturday’s crucial clash against Cronulla.

With Parramatta’s salary cap punishment expected to be finalised this week, the *uncertainty about Radradra’s future took another twist *yesterday.

After initially agreeing to return to Sydney on Sunday and train with his teammates tomorrow, Radradra was given a day’s extension to his sanctioned mid-season break.

It followed a week of mystery surrounding Radradra’s future following reports he was considering a shock switch to French rugby.

Player agent George Christodoulou told The Daily Telegraph that Radradra had been given permission by coach Brad Arthur to make a delayed return.

Arthur on Sunday night also confirmed Radradra would be back training with his teammates on Wednesday.

It was understood Radradra had initially agreed with Arthur that he would return to Sydney on Sunday.

Even on Sunday morning, club official Ian Schubert told The Daily Telegraph that Rad*radra was expected back on Sunday.

Christodoulou refused to say when his client would *return. While he would not answer phone calls, Christodoulou eventually replied via text message, saying: “He will definitely be returning to the Eels and be playing against the Sharks on Saturday.”

Last week Schubert told The Daily Telegraph: “Semi is contracted to Parramatta and he understands his *obligations.

“He will be back in Australia this Sunday and back at training on Tuesday week.”

Reminded that Sunday was the expected return date of both Schubert and Arthur, Christodoulou said: “He will definitely be at Eels training on Wednesday as required and agreed to by his coach.”

Arthur later replied via text: “Semi will be training Wednesday with the team.”

It was reported that Christodoulou met with the NRL last week and was told in no uncertain terms that if Rad*radra walked out on his contract with Parramatta he would not be allowed back.

Parramatta had the bye this round but trained on Sunday and will have more sessions on Monday and Tuesday.

A club insider told The Daily Telegraph on Sunday that Radradra was expected to train on Tuesday.

It is unclear why his leave was extended.

What makes it all the more mysterious is that Parramatta had initially said the club arranged Radradra’s flights to and from Fiji.

But The Daily Telegraph was told on Sunday that Rad*radra’s management had now taken control of his travel *arrangements.

Radradra did not rule out quitting the NRL when he spoke to The Daily Telegraph in Fiji.

“I’m just here to have a break,” Radradra said last Tuesday.

“I haven’t made a decision on anything.

“I’m just here to see my family and talk it through with them.”

Radradra’s family also confirmed that the star *winger was confused about his future.

“It is up to him. We will support whatever his decision is,” his sister Veseva said.

“We just support him in whatever he chooses.”

His father Samisoni Waqavatu added: “As long as he is happy. I’ll support him whatever he chooses.”

Until I see Semi on the field against the Sharks I won't believe anything said in the media, especially by his Clown of a manager who looks incompetent enough to run on Sharp's next ticket.

I feel for any player that does not get paid their TPA. It's a flawed system where merkins can apparently withdraw TPA support for a player without any legal consequences.

This is not new as players like Semi, Foran (he has a beef with Manly over unpaid TPAs) and even Gasnier whose shift to France was triggered by unpaid TPAs have been getting shafted for ages.

Having said that, NRL contracts are quite clear about clubs not indemnifying players for payment of TPAs, so players can hardly walk out on deals if they are not paid.

Yes the NRL should fix this issue, whether it binds sponsors legally to actually pay the coin or just shame them publicly if they don't.

His manager should, rather than chasing up deals for Semi in French Rugby, be chasing up the third party deals that are supposed to be organised by him and the said sponsor.

Well with Semi it has been suggested that Fiji Air contacted the club about Semi. The club passed on the TPA interest to his manager and he did nothing.

Fiji Air then contacted Hayne.

seriously, how difficult could that job be? ..I reckon I could stand on the corner of Victoria road and ANZAC bridge for an hour with a sign in my hand requesting TPAs for Semi and I'd pick up 100K..his manager is kidding himself..

Could the TPA rules be changed so that clubs can guarantee them all but only the ones they end up paying go on the cap?

Edit: obviously I don't mean for our team but for all the others.

Then clubs would be busting the cap all the time. How on earth could they budget properly when their might be an extra 1 million in TPAS that get added to the cap?

I think it goes both ways too.

We hear all the time about players who sign TPA's but never follow through on what the sponsor wants them to do (appearances, etc.)

Not sure what it would be worth, but surely Semi could easily pick up a TPA with a shoe and drink company. Even Jennings has a TPA for shoes, and semi is a bigger named player.

Additionally there would have to be several Fijian companies that could be approached, he is probably there biggest sporting export at the moment.

Instead of trying to break contract and pissing off to Yawnion maybe he should be trying to find a manager good enough to get him all the TPA's he wants and needs???

As Stagger has said how hard would it be for someone of his popularity and stature in the game???

I mean even a deadset log like Daniel Harrsion was somehow getting 30k a year.

The problem with that is that the sponsor can't be in conflict with any existing NRL sponsor and can't be currently an Eels sponsor.

So the red pen goes through competitors with (NRL Sponsors) Telstra, Holden, VB, Coca-Cola, AAMI (MV Insurance), KFC, Home Hardware, Honkook Tyres, NIB, GIO (General Insurance), harvey Norman, Accor Hotels, Powerade, Crown Resorts, Schick, Downer Engineering, Ch9, Fox, 2Gb or 2MMM and Eels Sponsors --> http://www.parraeels.com.au/corporate/corporate-directory.html

I think you guys are missing the point regarding TPAs. If they are genuine, like the suggestions you're making, then they are legitimately unconnected to the club. What this means is that the player gets the money regardless of which club he plays for.

This means the value of the playing contract is still a massive issue for him. If Radradra has $300k worth of legit TPAs (for example) he will still want the $800k (for example) playing contract on offer from X code/club instead of the $400k (for example) contract we're paying.

For TPAs to be of any benefit to us as a club they need to be contingent on the player signing (or re-signing) with our club only, and not any other club. Just like the TPAs the strong clubs have access to. Obviously this is illegal though.

If we are looking for a prop is Perrett an option ?

. After RLW’s story last week that the Bulldogs were refusing to play Lloyd Perrett in a bid to force him out of the club, the big prop finally got a run in the NSW Cup on the weekend.

It was Perrett’s first game in over a month after sitting on the bench despite being fully fit.

And Perrett took out his frustrations on the Wentworthville Magpies, scoring two tries in a 46-24 win.

He may still leave the Dogs before the June 30 deadline, but is fast running out of days
