What timing is there other than picking it up and passing it before the marker smashes you?

Spoken like a bloke with no idea. I'm surprised at you, Pou.

Get the ball too early and the run has less impetus, plus the defence has more time. Too late and you have to slow down to receive it and again you have less impetus, or the defence is already on top of you...which in turn creates errors and dominant tackles. Pick the wrong player altogether and it's just a mess.

You seem to be of the opinion service is irrelevant because it's something almost intangible and therefore you can't measure it statistically.

Maybe the new jersey could have a bullseye with rings around it.

I'm of the opinion that 'poor service' is almost always the fault of the runner. These are first graders. Anyone who plays dummy half has thrown thousands of passes to runners both in games and at training. There really isn't a lot between the best and worst of them, certainly not enough for it to be the deciding factor between two players. If a guy is that bad he won't even get a contract.

I like a hooker who takes 2 steps forward before passes. It takes markers out. King does this better.

I was often shocked at how poorly Kaysa threw a ball left to right.

They should be able to catch a bullet pass.
They can, but why should they have to?
These passes give the first receiver that extra time which is particularly useful for the halves, especially on the last tackle to get a kick away.
There is a cost for everything, and the cost of a quicker pass is increased chance of error. That's why most passes from dummy half aren't bullet passes.

Those that can certainly do for attacking raids and the better passers allow the halves to stand a bit wider.

There's no need for them to stand so wide - a long pass doesn't commit defenders. As I said, if long spiral passes were that important the bloke wouldn't be playing first grade. There are far more important things required from a middle defender. Even if he does play dummy half.

If that were so, Beau Scott would be our dummy half. A number 9 is just as important to attack as the halves.

That's right but he's not. Kaysa Pritchard was before he got injured, despite his 'poor service'.

Agreed. Look at Kritchard's LBAs and TAs this year. He is obviously capable of getting the ball to players in good position.
