Rumours and Stuff

Bellyache has picked up on what BA said and fired back after the Storm game last night, accused us of falling asleep on top of players as we spend so much time laying on them.

Funny coming from him.
Got to love the media! Just watched the Parra Press Conference.

The press persisted asking Brad about his statement about "being allowed to play football"

Press (mumble mumble) - What do you mean by that?

Brad - Souths were slowing us down in the play the ball

Press (mumble mumble) - angling for a headline - What do you think about Melbourne slowing down the play the ball (at least I think that's what the press asked) -

Brad - They're the best at it

Brad also added - but they play well, they work as a team

Next - ask Bellyache to comment on that

Result: Instant Headline!

Jamming in defence is how we play, especially on the right. Then other defenders slide behind the shooting outside backs. Jennings and Auva'a had their timing off last night, for whatever reason.

But Moses already spends plenty of time defending on the wing, with Auva'a at centre and Jennings three in.
You must be looking at a different game to me Pou, never yet seen Moses on the wing in D.

I'm not sure if you didn't watch the game or are just so stuck on the "our forwards are shit" train of thought that you refuse to see anything else....
Well if you thought otherwise say so rather than trying to have a fight with me all the time. Souths were missing at least 3 regular forwards and bought in 1 or 2 forwards for their NRL debut and they (the pack) poked their noses thru the defensive line all nite.

Maybe so but dreary old Glen has been saying our pack is shit since Twizz was a boy so I think it's as much confirmation bias as anything. We struggled, therefore we struggled because of his existing idea that the pack is shit.

We made metres pretty easy, they were allowed to hold us down and slow the game and we still made as many metres up the middle than they did. If not more. And our defence in the forwards was good. Despite being on the wrong end of the refs interpretation of what was happening in the ruck we won the game in the forwards, we just didn't use the platform well apart from a few occasions and thankfully that was enough to win.
Well here you go again putting words I never said in my mouth yet again. Show me where I ever said our 'pack was shit'. I said our props were average and small and we have too many players of similar style. Alvaro, Mannah and Terepo are all clones of each other and as a team you can't carry that many players with no off loading skills together.

Lets see how we go next week, if we play like we did against Souths we'll get smashed. Storm's forwards are big and experienced. Anyway hope we smash them, hope Mannah and Alvaro dominate their counterparts. Then you can crow as loud as you like Bazal and then I'll acknowledge you as the better judge.

Daniel Alvaro - 190cm
Tepai Moeroa - 190cm
Kenny Edwards - 185cm
Nathan Brown - 184cm
Manu Ma'u - 184cm

Jesse Bromwich - 194cm
Tohu Harris - 194cm
Kenny Bromwich - 183cm
Dale Finucane - 188cm
Nelson Asofa Solomona - 200cm

They're bigger on average, but not by a huge margin.

Yup. I've seen him on the wing when we don't have the ball. But I've never seen him make a tackle from the wing position from memory
No, the whole idea is that he will defend there when the chances of the opposition sending the ball to the wing are close to zero. Wingers (one from the sideline) see less action in defence than halves (three from the sideline) but when they do need to make a tackle they are usually isolated, so more likely to miss, and the consequence of a missed tackle on the wing is usually a linebreak.
