Is hayne a better fullback then Gutherson? YES Is he a better 5/8? who knows. Hayne = fullback. If gutherson goes well at 5/8 it solves a problem and leaves fullback for Bevan when Hayne decides to play golf.

Without a doubt he is a better half than Gutherson (at least at this stage). But what Gutherson has going for him is that he is busier, and his running game is less 'wasted' in the halves.

If Gutherson plays well enough supporting Norman it at least provides him a position in the top 17 (besides wing) if Hayne comes back.

But as good as French has been scoring tries, he is both a liability on the wing, and much of his skill is wasted there. Ideally he would play fullback. There's a lot about fullback play that he won't learn on the wing.

Hayne a better half at this stage? Nonsense... the guy failed there previously, and has been away from the game for two years.

Was it you or RLW47 that said you judge a player's success off the win-rate of the team at the time? If so Gutherson has not won a game whilst playing in the halves.

So Haynes "failure" at 6. Most of his games were at the back end of 2011, 8 of the 14 according to rugby league project.
Haynes stats for those 8 games
Try Assist - 5
Line break assist - 5
Kicks - 108
Tackles - 96
Missed Tackles - 28
Errors - 12
Runs - 81
Run Metres - 790
Offloads - 9
Tackles Breaks - 31
Line Breaks - 2
Tries - 2

Compare that to the best halfback going round in Thurston for some of the same games. Thurston was out for a few of the weeks Hayne played as 6 so i got a few earlier games stats to get the same sample size
Try Assist - 7
Line break assist - 7
Kicks - 61
Tackles - 105
Missed Tackles - 34
Errors - 14
Runs - 79
Run Metres - 558
Offloads - 7
Tackles Breaks - 29
Line Breaks - 4
Tries - 4

He didn't 'fail' you f**ken idiot, he was just less effective than at fullback.
And less effective than other options in the 6.

I'd call that a failure... as I would his failure to make Fiji Rugby 7s once his "god" had set him on that journey, and his failure to consolidate a second season on the NFL roster when it became too much hard work, and his failure to see out his final contract with us.

Hayne since late 2014 = failure.

And despite the stats, Thurston's coach allowed him to continue to play in the halves in the past five years, but Hayne's coach shifted him out of the halves pretty quickly and was forced to look for a better solution...

You do realise that the coach at the time was Stephen Kearney. You know the bloke you have argued was totally inept as a coach on countless occasions with Pou. Why is he now all of a sudden a master tactician realising a bloke wasn't the best in the world in a position he had never played before after 8 games

Every f**king idiot would tell you that Hayne had the most talentless group of players in the clubs history around him at the time he was playing 6..johns, Thurston and Lockyer would of achieved the same around that lot but hey don't let the truth get in the way of a healthy hate campaign hey Bart?
