IF Hayne was to come, this is how I would see him fitting in.

  1. Gutherson - VC
  2. French
  3. Jennings
  4. Hayne
  5. Auva’a
  6. Norman
  7. Moses
  8. Mannah - C
  9. King
  10. Evans
  11. Mau
  12. Moeroa
  13. Brown
  14. Edwards
  15. Scott
  16. Alvaro
  17. Matagi

All things being equal and healthy. Not sure I can find a spot for Terepo, Taka, Vave, Smith, Pritchard (s), Hoffman OR SheRex.

At the very least that means is French is starting fullback and they plan to use Gutho in the centres.

I can't see Taka playing at full strength

Or Auvau at centre.

Taka is perfect bench. Covers halves, backrow and centre. Basicaly bar hooker every position is covered with Taka and some small shuffling

Edwards might start with Moeroa playing only in the middle, where he plays most of his minutes anyway.

Maybe. But he's more effective off the bench, plus there's plenty of competition for straight up middle spots already. You'd think Brown, Alvaro, Mannah, Evans and Scott are locked in barring injury.

Not much Avava love around here. I’d be happy with him in the centers, if not wing. Has some errors but enjoy his mongrel.

I like him a lot, but as a centre - he's a bit of a liability under the high ball.

But then, give him a full off-season of training as a winger, and he might do well.

The T-Rex has normally been an edge player / centre.

Obviously he needs a massive lift in form to even get close to be considered for an NRL start.

However does anyone think he has the capacity to play in the middle (based on his best form/skill set) instead of the edge?

Someone his size / attack would be a nice addition to our middle.

I think he'd be less of a defensive liability in the middle, closer to the ruck, than on the edges.

Honestly - not a bad signing, tbh.

He's definitely got the size we need, and given his recent form and fall from grace, he wouldn't be on too much in terms of salary.

I think he's another shrewd BA signing.

The following is directly from the official NRL website.

NRL.com understands the Eels are open to welcoming him back – but only on their terms. Those terms are likely to be a take-it-or-leave-it $500,000 one-year deal that would mean Hayne would sacrifice at least half a million dollars if he chooses to walk out on the Titans to rejoin his old team.

There’s always injuries. Evans is currently unavailable to play. I’m sure more blokes will get hurt between now and round one.

Well I did say I couldn't see Taka playing at full strength....injuries are the reason you have back ups.

Sure but I don’t think we will have a legit top 17. More like a top 13-15 with the other 2-4 spots filled on any given match day by blokes from the top 20 or so.

What I mean is maybe the 17 only applies to match day, and Arthur’s doesn’t intend to go into 2018 with a settled top 17.
