Sure but I don’t think we will have a legit top 17. More like a top 13-15 with the other 2-4 spots filled by blokes from the top 20 or so.

What I mean is maybe the 17 only applies to match day, and Arthur’s doesn’t intend to go into 2018 with a settled top 17.

Probably, but I don't see him often carrying a utility and a hooker on the bench. And he's shown that when he has two fit hookers he does like having one on the bench. And when he doesn't, historically, he more often likes to carry an extra prop.

I don't see Taka ever not being named on Tuesday but I also don't see him playing much first grade in the forwards barring injury/suspension or a huge loss of form for someone.

I reckon Taka will be in the top 17 each week somewhere. I see him as one of the players BA loves and won't drop him unless he is in poor form.

I see our side something like this at full strength (assuming Hayne signs):

1. Gutherson
2. Auva'a ( he was being picked in front of Hoffman )
3. Hayne
4. Jennings
5. French
6. Norman
7. Moses
8. Mannah
9. Pritchard/king
10. Evans
11. Manu
12. Moeroa
13. Brown
14. Taka
15. Scott
16. Edwards
17. Alvaro

18. Peni - next forward picked.

Moeroa will play more minutes in the middle.

I don't see Matagi / Vave offering anything better those players.

Only 1 2nd rower. I'm interested in how this would work

Ps are we so good we only need 16 players?

Maybe. But he's more effective off the bench, plus there's plenty of competition for straight up middle spots already. You'd think Brown, Alvaro, Mannah, Evans and Scott are locked in barring injury.

Scott? Maybe but he is slowing up.

That pain in the you know what Paul Kent has just written an article bagging Hayne, but whats interesting is he said he has been told from Eels insiders Haynes peeps have been trying to broker a deal for 4 weeks now.
Whether he comes or not is one thing, but it does seem now that there is plenty of smoke around the rumour.

So I asked a pretty good contact about Hayne and he didn't know yet but he did say that Taka moving to the back row off the bench is happening.

If true that could mean a permanent move to the middle for Tep with Kenny coming on to start and Taka taking over Kenny's role. Or Kenny could be moving back into the middle and playing as a middle half.

Well we are bringing a bunch of the old boys back, why not bring back the best middle half the game has ever seen
