Rumours and Stuff

Kikau didn't change the momentum of the game. Penrith didn't even change their effort. We just stopped putting in the required effort in defence for whatever reason, which led directly to Blake's first try and then Moses' binning, from there it was quicksand. Having butterfingers and generally not respecting the ball also didn't help. All of these deficiencies are also commonly found in the prototypical "impact" player, i.e. poor hands/poor defence, and at best an impact player would have only papered over the larger team issues. Remember back to last game last season, up against Cows but everyone knew who the dominant team was going into halftime, despite Semi having major impact. Remember back to Hayne pre-NFL

Oh just like Semi used to. Against the better(larger) teams even Semi's heroics aren't enough a lot of the time.

#edit... fixed to correct quote

Are you an imbecile:

1. He would have made the tackle that Manu missed on Blake
2. He would have been fast enough to catch up with Cleary when he made his break and not let him get the pass away
3. He would have turned around and run 70 metres untouched instead of scoring for Penrith

FFS, Kikau is the 2nd coming. Don't you know this already
That's not what everyone is saying! They're saying even after all that shit defence, Kikau would have wrested back the momentum on his own and we would have piled on 40 unanswered points

And how would have Kikau changed all of that if he played for us?

He would have been at least one player that would of had impact off the bench and not have been dominated and man handled like little children. Zero impact off the bench last weekend.

Zero!!!

I don't think anyone (even BA) is thinking we couldn't do with some larger forwards and some impact players.

The problem is as a club you can only buy what is available and that doesn't always work in your favour.

If a Kikau type player (or even Kikau himself) was available and suited what BA wanted, does anyone think BA wouldn't have a go at getting them?

That is why he bought Evans and TRex FFS.

So you're of the opinion that Penriff won solely due to Kikau's herculean 79 metres? Or was he the one doing all the manhandling of us? Or do they have a team of "impact" players that do all the manhandling?

My read on their "dominance" had very little to do with what they were doing right and more to do with what we were doing wrong

So you're agreeing an impact player wouldn't fix our issues?

On his own, no. We need at least another(besides Kikau) large body in our team to address the size disparity we give away to the bigger/better teams.

We need to sap the opposition in defense. Big bodies do that better then little ones.

The Storm and Cowboys didn't recruit giants for no apparent reason.

Sure it does. Remember in 2009 when "if only we had a proper half back we would have beaten the cheats"? So we went and signed Sandow. Worked out in everyone's favour

Kane Evans was the only forward to make more than 10 metres per carry four us. If we'd had more ball while he was on he would've made more runs and had more impact. Instead we had all the ball while Mannah and Alvaro were on and none of the ball while Evans was on. It was just bad luck, though obviously not helped by having our best kicker off the field for 25 minutes in the middle of the game.

Ask any NRL player and they will tell you games are won and lost on one, two or maybe three moments in a game.

Our errors, sin binning and injuries were those moments. Then the impact of a Kikau took full advantage. The momentum was theirs. We had no one capable enough to even show a glimmer of ability to wrestle that momentum back. The fresher players coming off the bench were rat shit.

Viliame Kikau - 1.96m tall, 120kgs heavy
Kane Evans - 2m tall, 116kgs heavy

Reagan Campbell-Gillard - 1.93m tall, 115kgs heavy
Tepai Moeroa - 1.9m tall, 111kgs heavy

No, we beat:

Manly
St George (twice)
Wests (twice)
Penrith
North Queensland
Souths (twice)
New Zealand
Canterbury (twice)
Melbourne
Brisbane (twice)
Gold Coast

All smaller packs than ours hey?

the only two teams that count because they made the GL and I couldn't be F'ed in addressing the others is Cows and Storm.

Now you know that you are playing games by mentioning both those victories Pou. Both those victories only happened....hmmmm now lets try to remember....when exactly did we play those games? Hmmmm.....

Again you're agreeing that Kikau wasn't the momentum catalyst but just jumping on the back of our errors, injuries and shit defence having already handed over momentum?
In individual games, a handful of moments may decide result, but across a season your fate is determined by far more

And if you ask any coach he will tell you there are hundreds of such opportunities to win or lose a game over 80 minutes, and if your team (or the opposition) allows one moment to define a game they are loosers and should be watching from the stands like all the other loosers.

While their huge Kiwi forwards were playing Origin?
