Funny how the club and BA get crap put on them for not keeping our juniors but never get credit when we "steal" juniors from other clubs.

Gee Mahoney / stone and john west are all on development contracts, trained during the offseason with the NRL squad yet none are eels juniors !!

I am sure Tigers, sharks and dogs fans are going to be pissed when that trio are in our 2020 top 17!!

What on earth are you on about? All I said was that it shits me when people in general moan about us "letting go" of players who get poached as though the club is at fault. It was a general frustration and I targeted no one specific with that comment.

But if you choose to take it personally, maybe there's a reason for that that says more about yourself than me.

Keppie was offered a top 30 spot at Manly, while he's behind other young players here who are objectively better at this stage. It's not simply a matter of "letting players go", if we thought Keppie was worth a spot in our top 30 he'd have one. At this stage he's basically Alex Twal all over again and we already have enough of that type of player. More power to the kid, I hope he kills it, but I don't reckon we should match every deal that comes along in an effort to keep all our juniors...

I have seen you in full flight Baz and I have seen you do some great work with people who truly deserve it. I have also witnessed your nasty side too. Not every merkin on here is a f**kwit who deserves your derision, just because they don't agree with you.

Gee. I dunno.
Since 1974 we have had a Rookie of the year. Season 2017 was the first year we never even had a nomination.
Would be silly to select a rookie who wasnt ready but sometimes you get surprised. Youth also brings enthusiasm. They lift. Ive seen it hundreds of times.
I guess all points are directed at Marata at this stage. Its surprising when other "bargain" players are added to the roster who create a bottleneck for younguns with potential.
Frichard, Williams, Matagi, Vae etc.
Ive followed this wonderful club for 54 years and Ive seen some fantastic rookies grow once exposed to more experienced players. Were they the finished article when given their initial chance? Far from it.
Im old school OA. I think fondly of the days watching the Under23s, the Reserves and the Firsts. Some of the greatest memories I have are spotting a likely junior and watching him succeed.
Maybe those days are gone. Such a pity.
