I have seen you in full flight Baz and I have seen you do some great work with people who truly deserve it. I have also witnessed your nasty side too. Not every merkin on here is a f**kwit who deserves your derision, just because they don't agree with you.

Perhaps you should be having this conversation with the poster actually attacking your mate, lol.

I havn't been posting here long enough to have any mates though I do in some kind of way consider all of you to be mates by virtue of the fact that we all go for Parra.
If you would be so bold as to tell me who you mean by my mate and who is attacking them, I will happily review that and add further comment.

Gee. I dunno.
Since 1974 we have had a Rookie of the year. Season 2017 was the first year we never even had a nomination.
Would be silly to select a rookie who wasnt ready but sometimes you get surprised. Youth also brings enthusiasm. They lift. Ive seen it hundreds of times.
I guess all points are directed at Marata at this stage. Its surprising when other "bargain" players are added to the roster who create a bottleneck for younguns with potential.
Frichard, Williams, Matagi, Vae etc.
Ive followed this wonderful club for 54 years and Ive seen some fantastic rookies grow once exposed to more experienced players. Were they the finished article when given their initial chance? Far from it.
Im old school OA. I think fondly of the days watching the Under23s, the Reserves and the Firsts. Some of the greatest memories I have are spotting a likely junior and watching him succeed.
Maybe those days are gone. Such a pity.
Just my thoughts
I think players are playing longer these days, given the liveable salaries for blokes at the extreme bottom end of the top 30. This reduces the number of debutantes each year, but they are still coming through every year. Just not at our club in 2017.

And like you, I like to see merkins make their NRL debuts at our club. I'm even excited for George Jennings this weekend, even though he made his NRL debut three years ago.

Yes. From the little I've seen of our juniors, he to me was the cream of the frontrow crop. I have no doubt that he will now make it for three reasons. 1 He won't be playing for us, 2 he is a worker and 3 he is white.
So you say Alvaro is shit because he plays for us or because he is olive?

Mate, he is so polar bear that even though he plays for us, he is still a decent player.

Keppie though will absolutely brain it over at Manly. Also remember people Frontrowers generally take longer to show their stuff in 1st grade.

So if we picked a player to debut last season, and they played only one game and played like a busted arse in that game - I wonder if they would have won rookie of the year by default?

That would be funny.

The old takes longer for front rowers to develop get out clause. If we want to win now and Keppie won't be good for a number of seasons, why give a shit who he plays for next season? "Because then he'd be cheaper to us" - there's years of factors that will determine how good he is and how much he'll cost, and again he's no use to us winning now so who cares?
Plus he's not even the best forward we currently have in his age group or younger. Are you saying we should lose some of those players because you think 5-10 years from now Keppie will be better, when all current evidence points to them being better?
I like Keppie but him leaving is hardly a killer blow nor it is a symptom of some endemic problem BA has with younger players or the club being unable to develop quality players
