I reckon Brian Fletcher is one of the funniest personalities in the media.

I dont. He acts like a child. I wonder if he was big on the charlie in the day. Genuine question. That shits known to fry the brain and have it freeze into a childlike state.

They said on NRL360 the other night that the reason why Jnr signed with us was bc the Raiders Board decided not to offer any contract with a term of more than 2 years.

Fair enough, props and lots of forwards have a shelf life.

Yes but you will never be able to sign a young gun like Kalyn Ponga like Knights did. Toumololololololo signed $1m per year life deal. DCE signed life deal.

Might work with good players who are prepared to challenge themselves and you wont get many that get complacent.

You will miss out on the players with young families that want job security.

There not Props.Halves and backs tend to maintain performances.
With Jnr he may of been told to get to a weight and struggled so Ricky says 2yrs max.
Every 3yrs new props become the elite. Look at 3yrs ago

Graheme,Scott,Tamou,JWH where your elite props. None are in the mix now.Even 2 yrs ago Ryan James and Boyd where seen as potential origin and Aus props. Now would not be in the top 12 props in game.

Even Woods will be starting his down hill slide slowly. This imo will be his last real good year at elite level after 8 yrs of bashing himself in the NRL.

I would use the 2yr deal on props as a rule of - If played 7yrs starting in the NRL.
Jnr is at a good age. Once he hits 28 I reckon he will decline fast.

That's just f**king dumb if applied across the board, there's a heap of history out there to suggest players signing for the greater security of a long term deal, and at less per season.

As a general inclination it's not that bad, but putting it out there you are limiting what you can do as a club, and even if you then bend the policy for a strategic signing, the rest of your squad is gonna be all WTF.

Is this just a different version of Ricky's whiteboard?

The two year limit is on all players. Not sure why you are waffling about props.

Oh sorry. Well how do you build a sqaud when half the teams off contract that season.
I reckon 3yrs is ideal. 4yrs Max for proven guys.

At eels is there anyone Id offer 4yrs too? Moses and Gutherson are about the only two.

You've got no idea what would have happened under different (I'd hardly say normal) circumstances, but any reasonable person can look at the fact we did make top 4 last year with a largely similar pack to this year and think that a) outside circumstances can't/won't actually change that much, and b) even if they do how could we make squad changes to not be disadvantaged by the different circumstances WHILST also balancing the salary cap. They may not be deathriders in the real sense but f**k they love playing in the shallow end of what they think they are geniuses of. The ones who say their piece and move on are usually then ignored for that piece. It's the ones who harp on and on about all the perceived problems and don't come across with any productive argument other than "Tepai is shit" or "Fisher-Harris is better than Alvaro" or of course "fatter props" that I'd consider deathriders. Although in the real sense probably one is just some weird troll and the other two are senile old fools
If your team is largely unchanged but everyone around you improves theirs do you expect the same outcome? I doubt it! And that is exactly what happened this year to us. Our team is vastly weaker because we lost our best player, Semi, while all those weaker teams improved their rosters. If you thought we'd be a guaranteed top 8 team then you don't have much knowledge of RL (or sport in general) which has been displayed by many on here.

Would Mansour want more than Hayne ? Pfft -->
I'd not go after Mansour for several reasons. His form has slipped, is too injury prone (now injured again and we have enough of those) and he'd cost too much. If we are after a big winger I'd look at Maumalo from the Warriors, a player with plenty of potential and much cheaper. There is a reason Guss won't re-sign him and he is a smart judge of players, lets hope BA is too.

Serious question.
Bevan French? What do we do with him?

We wait Hindy until we have a decent powerful pack that can play well consistently. Then we can judge fleet footed, lightweight players like him more accurately. Judging him in a busted team like this doesn't do him or us any favours.

I suspect that in a team that goes forward and can dominate the ruck consistently he will be a star player. Dominating the ruck makes all the difference in our game. If we can't get to our feet faster then the opposition can it doesn't even matter who has more possession as much. That is why even in games where we had similar possession stats or better, we still lost.

It is all about the space that your players can provide for the playmakers and outside backs to do their magic. Without ruck dominance you have nothing. The defenses are just to good now a days and set very quickly and the players are very, very fit obviously. This is why unless we also address and acquire a great dummy half we will not be a genuine premiership threat.

BA certainly has made a meal of that part of the team. I know that Api from Manly was looking at extending his contract with them a few weeks ago, but if he hasn't put pen to paper yet, I would jump in at the 11th hour and try to make him an offer that he would find very hard to refuse.
