Rumours and Stuff

We wait Hindy until we have a decent powerful pack that can play well consistently. Then we can judge fleet footed, lightweight players like him more accurately. Judging him in a busted team like this doesn't do him or us any favours.

I suspect that in a team that goes forward and can dominate the ruck consistently he will be a star player. Dominating the ruck makes all the difference in our game. If we can't get to our feet faster then the opposition can it doesn't even matter who has more possession as much. That is why even in games where we had similar possession stats or better, we still lost.

It is all about the space that your players can provide for the playmakers and outside backs to do their magic. Without ruck dominance you have nothing. The defenses are just to good now a days and set very quickly and the players are very, very fit obviously. This is why unless we also address and acquire a great dummy half we will not be a genuine premiership threat.
Agree that Bev is worth a wait n see.

BA certainly has made a meal of that part of the team. I know that Api from Manly was looking at extending his contract with them a few weeks ago, but if he hasn't put pen to paper yet, I would jump in at the 11th hour and try to make him an offer that he would find very hard to refuse.
Api is Kaysa minus his Kamikaze.

If you are going to make too-good-to-refuse offers to hookers, then Api is not the guy. Might as well stick with Kaysa and Jedi the mad merkin out of him.

Meanwhile we have this hooker running around for Wenty. He was Bears forward of the year 2017. How had he been going ? Anyone ?

If your team is largely unchanged but everyone around you improves theirs do you expect the same outcome? I doubt it! And that is exactly what happened this year to us. Our team is vastly weaker because we lost our best player, Semi, while all those weaker teams improved their rosters. If you thought we'd be a guaranteed top 8 team then you don't have much knowledge of RL (or sport in general) which has been displayed by many on here.
How many teams do you reckon have legitimately improved from their squad last year? And especially from only outside recruitment?
For mine it’s only really Drags, Warriors, Knights and Panfers (mostly improvement through subtraction). All 4 of those teams have received their biggest boosts (maybe not the biggest for warriors/knights but still significant) through new halves which we didn’t need nor could fit in at the end of last season. Scum, Rabbits, Sharks, Boncos, Tits, Raiders & Moanly have barely changed. In fact a few of them have gotten worse. Rorters have “improved” but not in the areas they actually needed. Most people assumed Dogs & Cows had improved but results say otherwise. The interesting one is Tigs who have improved by making their squad worse. Other teams and our recruitment are far from the be all, end all you think. Plus even if it was recruitment is actually limited season to season. Case in point many think we need to improve our hooker, but how many hookers actually changed clubs last season?

Anthony Don is off contract. Same age as Hayne but is a specialist winger. Great in the air and a big frame. There are a few cheaper wingers available at years end who would provide better value than Mansour.
Mansour 2 years ago was a beast
Not so much now days. Cant see anyone paying him 500k.

Gee Cotric would be handy, be nice to steal one of Pricky.

To be honest I don't really see that anyone who was constantly called a death rider was called it for saying we needed bigger forwards - no one, not even Pou has said we don't need bigger forwards. The death rider tag was applied to poster who consistently and only had something negative to say with absolutely zero positivity about anything to do with the club. The same bunch of posters who seemed to derive pleasure from any failings of the club if it meant BA would be sacked or something similar occur.

And personally, I didn't really see you as a death rider @lingard as while you may have been negative, you were still able to offer constructive options and opinions.

All Pou ever said (repeatedly) was that the forwards we have are the ones who got us to the top 4 last year so they were/are good enough. Don't recall him or anyone else ever saying we don't need bigger forwards.

But the reality was and is that they weren't and that Semi and a great draw was the difference as so many here and in the press have pointed out a bazillion times already. But hey, you're are obviously entitled to your flawed opinion.

Mansour has had such a bad run with injuries. Still only 27 so 3 good years in him.
His issue is he can onlymplay one position. Cotric can play fullback and perhaps centre.

Mansour may want 500k+ but i reckon 400k will get him due to lack of game time.

Hayne might be a good cheap option also. Throw him 300k and see what he says.

Ram it was not just Semi. We also had Taka in the centres who plays like a forward.
That is 2 guys who would charge like bulls. We lost a lot when they both where not in side.
You had Semi,Taka,Auvau at times taking the first 3 charges when forwards where tired.
We also need Tepai to step up now. It is his 4th full season in first grade. If he can play like Manu did last game and we add Brown along with T rex getting some match fitness plus Evan forcing his way back we can have a good pack.

I dont know if anyone has ever disagreed that it would be nice to have a big forward or two .... i dont believe its an isuue of whether we need one or not .... the issue is more about people crapping on forever about how they know we need one but the f**king coach has no idea .... well, no - the f**king coach knows too

The problem isn't that the coach didn't or doesn't know, the problem is that he thought he could get away with it and not fork out to have quality giants in the team. Well as I have said many times before he is a good coach, but is still making rookie mistakes at times. This was another one. Hopefully he has learnt the hard way and will never make that mistake EVER again.

The question now is, has he woken up to the fact that we DESPERATELY need a quality number nine or the team will win nothing(GF)? Or is that another hard lesson learnt that he needs?

Where will he get that number nine? I have no freakin idea, but that is his problem. Like I said previously, maybe Api is still available? But he has gotten himself into this position now. The last few seasons, there were quite a few 9's available and he didn't do enough to get one over here. Instead he gambled on players that many here surmised would not make it. We were right and he was wrong.

Now he has to get cracking and get it right. We are a 32 year impatient lot who are sick of all the excuses.

I look forward to the complete analysis you have done on all the players BA has actually missed over so many years.

Oh wait of course! He should have just offered contracts to already contracted players and got them to leave their clubs...

Id loce to put a first grade roster together with you Ram. We seem to both think the same. I laugh when so many on here like players just cause they try hard.
