Then Frank, Matagi,Vave,Watmough,Evans,Wicks ?
Highly doubt it. And of the others only slightly. Matterson id say we paid part of his contract.
Hahaha ... you've changed your initial list from ...

Matagi,Vave,Hasson,Rory,Frank

Of course watmough and evans wouldnt have been cheaper - 1 yr of frank might not have been but tbh we have no idea if he was cheap and he was only 1yr while all those others were multi year deals - so yes, cheaper ..... way to backtrack and be a dirty rotten liar ..... mr 0%

I find it hilarious the amount of people on here that seem to think if you offer player X 100k more then his current deal he will sign.
There are 15 other clubs after big forwards, there are players who would rather raise families in certain areas etc.
Just because there are a good few forwards off contract doesn’t mean you sign them.

I think BA has shown he knows we need more forwards, bigger forwards. But we just aren’t getting the players or like what has happened with Vave, Matagi and Evans they are half the player they were the season prior at their old club.

We are clearly in the market for props, we have seemed to secured Jnr next year, and Asofa Solomona is on the radar.
Sign those two and we are a top 4 perhaps top 2 team

Junior Forwards lost in the time

Twal
Fuimano
Alioi
Matterson
Jnr Paulo
Keppie

Matterson was a 5/8 when he left the club.
Jnr was released for personal reasons and cap!
Kelepi I have rated since watching him in the jnrs and the player for mine that shouldn’t have been let go

I would of never let Matterson, Twal or Junior go.
Of course you wouldn’t. You also would have bought every quality forward off contract. Then you would have offered whatever it took to get contracted forwards you wanted. Then you would have the best available forwards in the comp and looked like a genius. Except for the fact our 30 man squad would have 50 players in it and we would be playing for no points due to being over the salary cap. And all this assuming no other club wants the same players we do. It is a constant surprise to me that you aren’t a first grade coach or even a club CEO.

Twal

Matterson
Jnr Paulo
Keppie

Twal-Bench player who is identical to Alvaro in style. I rate him, but he's not what we're missing
Fuimaono-Fringe first grader, abysmal defender.
Ailoai-Left because his manager was Will Hopoate's manager and wanted his clients out of Parra, it was well spoken about at the time. Fringe first grader.
Matterson-Still can't work out whether he's a forward or not. Fringe first grader
Paulo-Quality player, left for massive overs at the time though.
Keppie-Young player offered a top 30 spot at Manly, hasn't even played NSW Cup yet.

It's hardly a list to get worked up over, to be fair....

Or Keppie. I wonder what the respective deals are for Vae and Matagi Vrs what it would have cost to keep Keppie.

Both Vave and Matagi are off-contract next year so they have no impact on what we potentially could have offered Keppie. We offered Kep a development contract while manly thought he was worthy of a top 30 spot.

Just as an aside, Oregan Kaufusi played ISP yesterday, and if nswrl.com can be believed he played 50 minutes. That means Kaufusi has played 50 more minutes in ISP as a 19 year old than Keppie has played as a 20 year old.

Don't get me wrong I like Keppie. He turned up and cheered on his SG Ball teammates a few years back when he was injured, great character and attitude. But he didn't start showing promise until he was 18 and struggled to make an impact as a 19 year old in the NYC until late in the year. Meanwhile Kaufusi was putting up similar numbers but a year younger. We just had a very good prop in Stefano Utoikamanu debut in the 20s who is only 18 and has made an impact when I saw him play one game the other week.

The other thing is, teams like Manly and Canterbury who are in a world of cap trouble are actually gonna be primed to steal young players who arent ready but have an inkling of promise ... cos they can only offer minimum money to fill out their rosters, but thats what some of these totally under done kids will be content with

Appreciate your comments OA. I know fairly little of whats coming through. I remain dissapointed over Keppie however. I really like what ive seen of him. Im getting over losing Twal. Lol. I take your point re Vae and Matagi but if we sign second rate replacements Ill again be annoyed. I just hope our young stars eventually get their chance. Surely Marata is ready to try. That situation is now getting beyond a joke. That said Ive little doubt B Scott will be trotted out again V The Dogs after the debacle that was Matagi yesterday.

I too hope Marata plays next week, he was named at prop in ISP yesterday but may have played on the edge. Matagi has played his one good game for the year.

I wasnt there but he was "subbed" off at 29 minutes so I suspect he played in the middle. Vae was "subbed" at 26 minutes. They both came back on at 55 minutes. Dogs scored a try to equal at 76 minutes then potted a fg at 79 minutes for the win.

Apparently the Dogs have huge cap problems. Time BA visited Dogs HQ and offer to take some forwards off them to help them thru this crisis, you know be the good neighbour. What about a swap of players. I'd take Klemmer and Raymond Farata-Marina? and give them Evans and Vave or Matagi.

Why would we give them Vave or Matagi? They are off contract !!

Additionally you make it sound like BA does nothing on the recruitment front, just because you don’t read about it doesn’t mean BA isn’t making inquires all the time and talking to mangers and players.

Don’t forget Moses wasnt even considered as a possible signing until the deal was done without any suggestions in the media we were interested!

Well if he can't recruit the best available, then he is a shit coach. Everybody knows the best coaches are the best recruiters.

So why didn’t Bellamy close the deal with their massive offer to Milford?

Why couldn’t Bellamy keep Harris? Is he shit at negotiating?

Or aren’t you the one that rates Cleary as one of the best coaches (sorry if I am wrong), yet he couldn’t close the deal on Tedesco or woods ?

Why couldn’t Robinson convince Cootes to sign with the roosters a year or so ago?

Why couldn’t Hasler convince Foran to sign with the dogs a few years back ?

Why couldn’t Bennett convince Taylor to return home this year?

Etc etc etc etc!!
