They were in games that he played.

It is entirely possible given his injured status all year that he actually wasn’t fit when he laced up the boots.

In fact, I reckon it’s almost certain.

Really? When BA himself said before round one that some of our forwards who had been training really well would miss out because there was such competition for spots? You reckon he'd play Evans injured or unfit?

Don’t confuse what he tells the media with what actually happens within the club. It’s naive.

BA got it all wrong.
He thought our pack was capable.
He thought Hayne was a bargain at 500k.
He thought goal kicking isnt important.
He over valued W.Smith
He over valued King
He over valued Evans,Matagi,Vave. I tell ypu now even the last 2 would not of come cheap. Both come as better players and went downhill.

Don’t know why, but I’ll bite.

Our pack was capable last year, with the addition or Evans and Trex most agreed we looked better at the start of the year.
Hayne was a bargain, you can’t predict injuries. It’s bad luck and you can’t blame the coach for that.
I’m not sure why you think he didn’t think goal kicking wasn’t important? Both Moses and Gutho had pretty decent stats last year.
W.Smith is a fringe first grader, and has over achieved on this for mine.
King was the same last year and earnt to start this year, he showed poor form and has since been dropped.
All 3 of those forwards came to us in form (Evans came over injured) he has dropped 2 of those players and one only just came back into grade the last couple of weeks.
Not sure where BA has shown anything like what you have suggested.

Hayne at centre for 500k was never a bargain. A Origin rep centre will cost how much?
There are 32 centres in game. Hayne doesnt make the top 10. He would sit about 16 at the halfway point. I reckon Taka does as good a job there.

He hasn’t played enough matches where he is fully fit for anyone to make a sensible assessment.

Unless of course, you deal in hindsight.

Evans may come good. Big boy who runs hard. Was always know to be sloppy with ball and bad discipline. That seems still there.

Evans' best game in blue and gold was the trial v Newcastle. He looked the goods that day but hasn't looked anything like that in the top grade since. Physically, he has the ingredients, I can only think it's an attitude adjustment he requires to bring those types of performances out every week... But like Matagi in that respect ..

He underestimated the problem (in my opinion), and his 'solution' was inadequate. That doesn't mean I think he's the second coming of Jack the Ripper or anything. Just that I think he's a fairly inexperienced coach who probably (in my opinion) made a mistake. I mean, is that f*cking okay with you?
Yeah he made a mistake. Is that f**king ok with you?

He would if he thought he was fit enough. But after hurting his ribs he lost even more fitness to the point where he would’ve been a liability.

As for playing injured, most players carry injuries. Some don’t stop you playing, some do, and others you don’t really know until you get on the field.

Funny how you guys make things up. Sure, we have needed for some time (and still do) some bigger, more powerful forwards. But we need quality. Vave and Evans are bloody reserve-graders. I reckon Paulo is over-rated, but he's better than the other two.
What exactly did I make up? The hilarious reference to merkins who think that BA loves small packs or the facts that dispute that. You can claim that he underestimated it or overestimated the recruits but well there’s a delicious proof pudding to eat

Interesting question and spot on.

It seems their issue is that they don’t think that BA solved the problem with his recruitment.

To suggest that BA wasn’t aware of the problem is a bit of a stretch.

That’s the thing though, last year and early this year when you recruit for the 2018 squad. We didn’t have any problems to solve, we lost the best winger in the comp and we couldn’t replace him with better as it was impossible.
Hayne was signed cheap and we had Auva’a finish the year strong. And also had Gennings training very well.

BA isn’t the problem, the problem is the players.
Believed their own pre season hype and raced out of the gates against Penrith and thought this is easy. We didn’t want to roll the sleeves up and expected it gifted to us. It’s attitude and that’s what it comes down to.
If we had a forward pack full of Gowers and 7 Guthos as the backline we would be on top of the comp.
Unfortunately not all the boys have that attitude.
