It is still a leader’s reaponsibility to performance manage. If they fail in the real world you to put them on a performance improvement program. However in professional sport if there is no improvement they are usually shown the door.

This is why some coaches are better than others. They manage better. It’s. It always about tactics. I just think BA may have past his used by date with us.
Of all of the things BA is not great at, I would argue his leadership of men is not one of them.

Criticisms about his football knowledge, ability to develop a game plan etc. are probably closer to the mark.

Well under the salary cap, showing players the door isn't something you can do any time you feel like it. You need to wait until their contract is up (or you can get them for breaching code of conduct) and it's not easy to get experienced first graders on one year contracts unless they are old or coming back from injury. So the minimum is generally two years, which is what we've done with Vave and Matagi.

I hope Cleary repays the Tigers and stays coach long term. Id rather see you guys do well the the Roosters.

Nathan wont leave. Panthers are flying. Stable club going places. Would be taking a gamble. Why leave a succesfull club. People say spite but the older he gets the less he will want to play for his dad.

Its not the freakn Brady Bunch.

Imagine the dressing room if Daddy is coach. Certain divides may happen, especially if players dislike coach when things go bad. Nathan COULD be caught in middle.
Dumbest thing ive heard he wants to play for his dad.

Agree with all of this. I cant see a positive other than the obvious, he is a good player. If eithers form dips, there will be pressure.

Having said that, the Cleary's dont seem to be a standard family. They seem VERY close and are high achievers so who is to say what they will or should do?

That type of intense pumping up which he is known for can only last so long. I hear he is very intense.

Also one team, one town. Better TPA's available and the NRL having a vested interest in you being successful.

Not to mention that Bellamy has coached for the majority of his club career with NRL legends Cam Smith and Billy Slater.

Hard to see exactly how good a coach he is, really - Brad Fittler made Ricky Stuart look half competent; Joey Johns made Hagan look like he had half a clue.

I think Bellamy is a good coach - but exactly how good he is is hard to quantify, because he has never had to rebuild a club from nothing.

While most players have improved under Arthur.

Vave was signed at a time when we needed to take big risks. He's a big bloke with talent but obviously has a problem with his work ethic. That's not the coach's job to fix. The player is almost 30. If he can't sort his shit out he finds a new club. The ones with good attitudes are retained.

Pou steps into a rake again.

If you’ve ever worked with grown men who have poor attitudes you’ll know you can’t sort another man’s shit out for him. Young blokes of working age might still be impressionable enough but by mid-20s if their attitude is shit they are a lost cause.

You don’t know for sure until they get to the club and you see them every day. But when you need to sign some size and you’re on a budget, as we were in mid-2016 when we signed Vave (and Matagi) then you need to take a chance on some blokes who’ve been moved on from four or five different clubs. If they don’t work out you let them go, just like all their previous clubs.

But pou, there's that rake again. By you own admission you quoted how good his numbers were a the year before he got to Parra.

Doh!

Yeah I think so. 14 point lead within 14 mins? Needed to win by 16 or something IIRC... Wags did the old fly out of the line job and we conceded a try, were starting to get the ascendancy back a bit and Peek was marched
Was that the same year we were only in that position because we put 70 on the sharks which improved our for and against greatly? In fact if the refs reffed the end of that sharks game properly we would have scored a 100. But the ref felt sorry for a team down to 11 men and stopped penalizing them for being offside.

And Kasiano has been shit since joining the Storm. It happens. Every signing is a risk.

And when the big boys get injured it can be hard for them to come back skinny as a rake.
