I don't know anything of Salmon to be fair hence the question. But could he be a hooker? If you'd had said to be Ben Hunt could be a hooker I would have said no until I saw him playing for the Broncos last year and he was great. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play hooker in Origin now Smith has gone and free up space for all 3 halves.

So... Could he possibly be turned into a hooker?

Yeah I haven’t seen him play really either but from reports he is a good runner of the ball and is a decent size. So I say while he “could” play hooker, his skill set would be totally wasted there.

I don't think we're in a situation where we need to offload players due to salary cap constraints. How much less would one of the Morris boys be on compared to French in his final year of his contract?

I don't know Bev personally but he seems like a loyal person, he has stated in the past that he would like to remain a one-club player. Whether that outweighs his want to play fullback is to be seen.

If he kills it at fullback he may be worth 800k but as a wing option Bevan never going to be more then a 300k winger due to size.

I don't know if training him as a dummy half will help him or us in the long term. He's already a good utility with the option of playing him at centre, halves and second-row and if we drastically needed him to I'm sure he could slot in at fullback or on the wing. Now that he's 19 the club needs to dedicate a position to him and get him to work on his skills there rather than getting him to learn a completely new position.

But we could really use a ball playing up tempo hooker.

That reminds me, I have to call Bernie.

Klemmer yes.!
Mbye No.! Wouldn't know where to fit him in & what position.
Id be more inclined to also chase Raymond Faitala Mariner

If rumours are correct & the Tigers might be interested in French it could free up more cash to maybe chase one of the Morris boys.
Could give us a few headaches with team selections. But a few new inclusions changes the team completely. Id love to also purchase a hooker. Depending on funds.

1. Gutho
2. Hayne
3. Taka
4. Jennings
5. Morris
6. Mosses
7. Norman
8. Junior
9. King/Kaysa
10. Klemmer
11. Niukori
12. Mariner
13. Manu
14. Brown
15. Alvaro
16. Evans/Vave/Matagi
17. Williams/Moeroa

Is Mariner the guy that wore 12 against is the other day?
If so, you will only need to move sideways to chase him as I swear every single one of his runs was across the field and not forward. More sideways running than Seffa and Kenny combined.

I reckon Brett Morris could do a job for us similar to Jason Moodie back in the early 2000’s.

Maybe. In slow motion but.

He's cooked IMO. Rather chase a youngster. Raiders ha e a Fijian kid in Mounties, Mikaele Ravalawa. Bit of Semi about him, although he'll never reach the level Semi did obviously. Powerful runner though.

Surely not unless we get rid of one of our current halves.

as the great man once said, pick your best team then worry about the number on their back later

I think we need to see him at NRL level to see where can fit, also need to see how he defends, dont know atm, he could be a show at 5/8 or left half as Normie isn't exactly setting the world on fire atm, this kid could be good enough to squeeze him out

Don’t think you can reduce value of current contract, only terms of new or updated component.
I may be wrong.

I think you can, subject to a 'reasonableness test'. So if you extend a player you can't play an Origin player minimum wage in a particular year, but I don't think there's any restriction that would absolutely stop the Dogs from reducing the 2019 cap rating of a player by extending them and back-ending the deal (but obviously if you do this for too many players you just defer the problem).
