If you are going to skimp a bit on one of your halves and replace him with a non creative player then you need a quality 9 or 1 that can create. Gutho / French and Pritchard are not that.

I don't think Austin isn't creative by any means (and I don't rate him particularly btw).

I think he's very much a spontaneous player, but to say that he isn't creative is incorrect IMO. He's creative enough, the problem is you can't create a game plan around his kind of creativity.

He's definitely more creative than Gutho

There's plenty of ways to use extra cap space to improve a team.

Agree that he is more of a spontaneous player. I compared his 'creative' stats with Gutho (remembering Gutho has played fullback more than in the halves). I reckon they are pretty similar and I wouldn't want either of them in our halves long term:

Austin, 12 games, 6 try assists, 7 LBA's
Gutho, 10 games, 4 try assists, 4 LBA's (only 3 games in the halves but recorded 3 LBA's - 1 in each game as well as 2 try assists in those 3 games)

I don't disagree, I just think that saying he's not creative is a bit incorrect.

Personally I'd rather just keep Norman

Michael Jennings confirms he will take up the 2019 option in his Parramatta contract

MATT LOGUE, The Daily Telegraph
June 22, 2018 7:35pm

MICHAEL Jennings has confirmed he will take up the option in his Parramatta contract for 2019 to help the Eels rebuild following a forgettable season.

Jennings has battled to produce his potent try scoring best in 2018, scoring only four tries in 15 appearances for the Blue and Gold.

Parramatta have also struggled, having only won three games to sit last on the ladder with 10 regular-season rounds remaining.

Despite the Eels’ sluggish form this season, Jennings is determined to remain at the club for the long haul.

“I’ve been at Parramatta for three years and I want to stay and do my best to help the club through some tough times,” Jennings told The Saturday Telegraph.

“I’m not focusing on contracts at the moment though. I just want to finish the season strongly.”

For now, Jennings is focused on helping Tonga defeat archrivals Samoa in Saturday’s Pacific Test at Campbelltown Stadium.

He can’t wait to reunite with teammates Jason Taumalolo and Andrew Fifita, who both starred during last year’s World Cup campaign.

Jennings said the pair’s decision to knock back the big dollars from New Zealand and Australia had inspired the entire Tongan community.

“I don’t those boys realise how much of an impact they’ve made,” he said.

“And it’s not only in rugby league. I’ve noticed it has impacted other sports, like in rugby union with younger players deciding to play for Tonga or the smaller nations.

“I think the boys have encouraged anyone from Tonga to chase their goals and represent their nation.

“That is a powerful thing.

I’m not so sure. He seems a step off the pace, his attention to detail has been lacking and he’s now even starting to make poor decisions.

I think his edge had become an issue for a lot of reasons, not just him, in terms of defence.

I wonder if he got the yips in terms of his hands, and maybe the try vs NQ has settled that? I don't think we can lambast a centre too much in a 3 win (so far) year
