Delboy, no one would be bitching if we were mid table and looking likely of a run to the finals. But from where we were last season to now is a massive drop and no one seems to have answers of why and recruitment for 2019 and beyond looks very poor at present.
We can only hope there are things happening and about to be announced because if we get to round 25 with the same recruitment we have now (Paulo and Lane) Members will want answers and heads to roll.
PM, my point exactly, but the issue that worries me, is who is in charge to make those changes.
Bernie is urbane and sauve in his discussions and interviews, but currently where is the concern, the hard nosed statement that it's not good enough and that we need to repay the faith the fans have shown. Some intent is necessary, I will always be an Eels fan, as most of us, but in any business ( and you know more than most) , there are times when leadership has to get on the front foot and deliver vision and actions.
Certainly , there wil,be questions asked, but that massive ball should be rolling and some real commitment shown. We dont really want leaks, that is understandable, but some of us are getting older and want the membership, fan base, and loyalty repaid with decisive recruitment and direction.
Over to you Bernie, earn the $600k you are supposedly on and give us encouragement and vision.
How many kids do you see wearing our jerseys, I am at junior footy every weekend, let me tell you - it's a worrying fraction of those worn.
Haven't posted much in a while, but I am seriously worried we are getting left behind by clubs without our resources.

Once again, you are yet to explain how replacing overpaid fringe first graders like Vave and Matagi with fringe first graders on fringe first grade money (like Lane) is actually a problem...?

I think Jake is concerned that the said fringe first grade player, may actually play 20 plus first grade games for us next year.

Well if he does either we'll have a lot of of injuries, or he'll be beating several top 17 players on form.

I don't rate the bloke highly either but FFS you need guys who are good enough to at least make a go of the NRL (which he clearly is) to make up the squad. He can play middle and edge and won't cost the Earth, a far better option for the balance of the squad than Matagi/Vave have proven to be in their second year

I'm going to go way out to the left field with all of this. Parramatta is changing culturally, and faster than we all think. We don't appear to be tapping into the growing Indian population of the area for starters, and Parramatta needs to look in this direction as one of its avenues for players and marketing down the track. At the moment though, I don't see the NRL community doing anything to at least go down that road. They love their cricket more passionately than OZ fans. Why can't that be transposed into loving NRL? An Indian or two in Parra's first grade would also do wonders for filling the seats in the new stadium. BTW, I'm of anglo saxon descent, not that theirs anything wrong with that. Feel free to fry my arse.......merkins.

I don’t want to argue, but I’m sure the same was said about vave and matagi only a year or two ago.

Can you honestly see lane helping us off the bottom if he has in fact signed???

Paulo is a decent get about alone will do sweet f**k all. Let’s hope BA can pull a rabbit out of his ass, bc at this stage it ain’t looking good.

I don't agree that Paulo transforms our pack. He's no Hayne godsend circa 2009. At most, he will play an integral part in a team where everyone else with a number on their back does the job that they are paid a substantially higher amount of income that the average Eels supporter gets in their back pocket. At worst, Parra Maccas franchise owner will be booking a world trip right about now.

No Rabbitohs will be pulled out of any hats. Rebuilding this team will take time 2-3 years minimum.
Teams are lucky to pull of two quality recruits in one season therfore we're definitely missing the 8 once again in 19.

The signing of too many average recruits is the main reason Parramatta are non competitive, Lane also fits into that category. 4 clubs in 5 years tells the story.

It takes years of diligent recruitment to become a consistent top 4 club. Depth should mainly be attained from development within.

Enough of these fringe signings !

Brad will be retained in 19 for monetary reasons, but nothing will save him. He has dug his own grave.
