Yet we already had Foran signed next year for the same money as Hayne was asking. Foran has gone and freed up that money.
Hayne showed more in one game today than Foran did all season for us.
Sure, Hayne threw an intercept pass and you have jumped upon that for laughs and giggles and childishly included that in your sig, but he was seriously the best player on the field today.
He hasn't played for 2 years. He had complete control whenever he had the chance today. Not everything is going to work, but almost everything did. Forced errors from kicks. Pinpoint bombs. Great cut out passes. Massively solid defence and try saving tackles. Try assists from kicks and passes. FMD, what more would you want from a seasoned NRL player, let alone someone who hasn't played the game for 2 years?
There are in my opinion, just 3 players in the NRL that are game changers. 3 players that are beyond comparison and command the top dollar.
Thurston, Cameron Smith and Hayne are the only NRL players in that league.
I cannot wait for him to be back in the NSW squad next year. I don't give a shit which position he plays. He is just that dominant.
We may very well be in it with a chance and I have no doubt that with him this year, we could very well have won those first two close games in Origin. The series was that close and he has proven in the past that he could (would) have been the X-Factor.
Anyway, you keep on hating him, because I'm going to keep on loving him.
I'm also going to keep on being sad that I can't love him for the Eels.
At peak slater and Inglis join this group. Plenty of player have these years where they can not be touched. Hayne had two of them. Barba had one also. IMO honest opinion Hayne after 2014 was ready to join the elites of Smith and Thruston if he could play at that level for 2 -3 more seasons. They have played at that level for 10 seasons +
Prior to 2009 Hayne was a great player. There are lots of great players around. Sometimes when a commentator raves on whena "start" player makes a break you feel it was better then when an average player makes one.
A good example is burgess. That run KE did the other night busting thru 5 tackles to almost score, If that was SAM it goes on the highlights of the footy show as play of the week.
In 2009 (half the season) Hayne was un touchable. I never seen a guy in that type of form since Benji Marshall who at his peak was also a great player. He won the tigers a grand final.
2010 hayne was good.I do not feel he ever come close to that 2009 form and by 2012 I was wondering what happened to Hayne.Perhaps the public was right-He was Hyped up.
After the 2013 season where he had now gone 2 season missing a lot of games I was nervous for 2014. I actually thought if Hayne injured himself for a large amount of time then perhaps he would be remembered for a guy who had the best half a season in NRL history. BUT he went up another level. He was the best player in the NRL by the end of the season.
My point is he never did it for 10+ years. Plenty of players have maybe nit been quite at Haynes level but in a class of there own for 3-4 years. What made Thurston-Fitler-Lockey-Smith etc so special is they did it for 10+years and in every game . Never a quiet or bad one.
If ben Barba played like he did that year he won the Dally M for 5 years in a row we would be talking the same way about him.
