Austin would be in the bottom 5 or 6 halves in the NRL. If we are going to replace Norman then at least get someone who is halfway decent

Yeah fair enough, but I suspect the club doesn’t want to spend to big on another half, as we have Brown and Salmon as options in the next 2 years, yeah it’s a massive risk putting faith in untested juniors - but a decision needs to be made either way.

I don’t think Austin will be that bad anyhow - the storm are also (or were) interested which indicates some ability to go ok.

Lane has been a top 17 player for the last 23 games his club has played.

Why wouldn't he be one with us?

I think Austin could be somewhat serviceable as a half if you have a very good 9 (ie Hodgson or Cam Smith) as they can make up for what he lacks - playmaking ability and your other half is a decent defender.

I reckon people on here will say that about anyone we sign to be honest.

Just because they will effectively be replacing player 18-30 doesn't mean they aren't seen and signed as a top 17 player. Of course some positions in the top 17 are really only decided during the off-season and trial(s) so we don't actually know until Round 1.

We are running last. We where seen as a title chance. It hasn't been a bad season, its been a disaster. And our biggest signing is playing NSW CUP.

Ive said it 10000 times. To win a comp you need 2nd rowers who can bust the line by running straight and hard. You need big strong physical wingers and forwards. One who work hard and run hard. We have flaws in our squad all over place and not a junior in NSW cup capable of first grade.
