We ride the highs yet also sink to the lower levels like no other team's supporters. Right now, we are at one of the lowest ebbs as Eels tragic's, and none of you need reminding how long we have hovered around that low. I'm over 60 now, seen a lot of great Eels games as well as more shit losses than I care to admit to. The game has changed, along with the supporters as well as the players and our/their expectations. I reckon people on here will say that about anyone we sign to be honest.

Just because they will effectively be replacing player 18-30 doesn't mean they aren't seen and signed as a top 17 player. Of course some positions in the top 17 are really only decided during the off-season and trial(s) so we don't actually know until Round 1.

Also, we don't ever seem to have a definite top 17. We have a top dozen or so, plus another eight to ten fighting for the remaining five spots. Everyone left over is a genuine backup - only playing in the event of multiple players unavailable.

But the reality is if we both managed football teams id have a top 4 outfit and average 20k+ crowds whilst you would have the team running like a busted datsun blowing smoke. This is facts Bazal. Accept it. My knowledge of the game is superior. Accept it.

We are running last. We where seen as a title chance. It hasn't been a bad season, its been a disaster. And our biggest signing is playing NSW CUP.

Ive said it 10000 times. To win a comp you need 2nd rowers who can bust the line by running straight and hard. You need big strong physical wingers and forwards. One who work hard and run hard. We have flaws in our squad all over place and not a junior in NSW cup capable of first grade.

Why would we have been seen as a title chance if our squad was full of flaws?

The fact is the squad only looks bad because key players are well below their best. The real question is why.

You'd have to admit though Pou Bear, that most of the teams who have had success over the last few years have probably had a Top 17-20 and filled the rest of the squad with players that are back ups.

French would just tackle the legs. He's proven he can do that just fine, and the backfield is probably the only acceptable place to make first contact around the legs.

Your 18th 'best' player is likely to play at least half the season. Do you really want him to only be worth minimum salary?

It would be interesting to look at how many appearances were made by the 18th-25th players to make the most appearances for each of these teams.

And then when a guy like Billy Rogers plays 15 games in a season because he's our 19th "best" player and someone's done his ACL, you'll be the first one bitching about our depth.
