Well lets hope he finds the motivation/fitness soon because its impossible to argue his current form. I too thought he would be a good buy but im a dopey supporter not paid to make such decisions. I guess its another challenge for BA given hes the bloke who saw something in him. Was he right or wrong? It aint lookin good.

It's certainly odd to watch a player in first grade for four years, sign him, and then stick him in reserve grade when he comes back from injury. He has played five games for Wenty this year. From 2015 to 2017 he appeared in reserve grade once.

Out of whom i have listed, who would you get rid of in the immediate term?
You serious???

Taka
Mannah
Evans

That’s just off the top of my head, Mau is on the downward slope and Tep hasn’t come on at all. A lot of our young blokes bar Alvaro seemed to have stalled. That says to me poor coaching and poor systems in place for young blokes to flourish.

Well my question to Lingard was a serious one, yes.
I am genuinely interested in his opinion on who he would get rid of.

Maybe, just maybe BA has realised Evans just doesn’t cut it as the type of prop he was hoping for. Leaving him in reserve grade is one way to piss him off to the point he may explore other opportunities, even if we’ll be forking out some of his salary. It would still be better than carrying the whole lot on the cap.

...or perhaps I’m just living in a dream world.

It's up to Evans how he ends up. He has the build to be either a prop or an edge backrower. At the moment he looks like one of those 7ft unco basketball players who have height advantage but offer not much else.

He should go play for the philipines bball team ... or maybe be part of their support boxers

It is up to him but so far the signs aren’t good. I don’t think Evans could ever play on the edge as he doesn’t have the lateral movement.

COREY OATES ON THE MOVE?
Corey Oates to Parramatta? Don’t be surprised.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett is desperate to retain the powerful off-contract winger long-term.

But Parramatta’s interest is genuine. The Eels need a roster overhaul and would play Oates in the second-row.

North Queensland is also interested in Oates, a former Queensland State of Origin winger.”

Bit of a gamble on Oates in the second row, he might turn out to be run of the mill forward and turnstile in defence.
First priority imo would be to fix the front row and Seggy would be a good addition and then another good skilful middle. Work backwards from there.

No. Players stay in Brisbane for unders, especially compared to moving interstate. Why does another team have to be paying overs or unders? Why can't it be at market? Realistically the whole overs/unders shit a) can only really be determined after the player actually sees out his contract & b) is brought up by merkins making way too many assumptions in an uneven market
We'll continue to have to pay overs until we become a regular in the top 8. Unfortunately this spoon year has put right at the back of the pack recruitment wise yet again.

Well if you want to be pedantic, the following aren't local...

Edwards is from Dorrigo, signed with Penrith for Matts
Yeo is a Dubbo junior, signed with Penrith for NYC
Blake is a Fijian who played junior footy in Perth, poached by Penrith for NYC
Cleary played wherever his dad coached, was also in the Warriors system
Egan is from Lithgow, signed by Penrith for NYC
Katoa is from NZ, played SG Ball with the Roosters and was poached by Penrith for NYC
CHN is a Kiwi junior (Otua Valley), was poached by Penrith to play NYC
JFH is a Kiwi junior (Whangarei), was poached by Penrith to play NYC
Ellis is a dubbo junior, signed by Penrith to play NYC

So your shining list of local Penrith talent is actually more than half poached from elsewhere. You'd reckon someone who follows the club closely would know that....?
What that does show is that their recruitment guys know their stuff to identify decent talent. Also have you thought that their junior system moulds that raw talent into something resembling an NRL player. Appears to shit all over our systems from recruitment to finished product. Although in saying that I think we have improved under BA and have some promising juniors coming thru. We'll see hopefully next year whether they'll succeed in first grade.

Max says in The Australian today that the silver lining in Beau Scott's retirement is a "significant" amount of cap space free'd up implying we are in an excellent cap place now.

Not sure what BA saw in Evans. Played his best football 2-3 years back and been average since. Maybe he thought he could get him back to his old form.
From a source I was told BA was in the bargain basement recruitment office and misread a bargain bin which said 'Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.' That's where he found Evans.

No Parra maths.
$1.2m Foran
$700k Watmough
$600k Scott
$300k-500k Evans (currently not even worth minimum money)
Do I need to go on?
Firstly all bar Evans' contracts were done by people no longer at club and none of them saw out the completion of their contracts therefore your figures are heavily inflated particularly for Scott.
Secondly 4 players on 'overs' therefore means all future signings must be on overs as well? Was Brown on overs when he signed as well? What about Hayne given that he took half what he was guaranteed at Tits? And looking at other teams that I assume you just think sign players on 'unders' just because they aren't us... Is Cronk/Tedesco on unders at Rorters? What about all those Origin players at Dogs, Cows, Manly & Newcastle are they all on unders? Or on the flip side how about old man Bunji at Tiges? He's clearly on overs. What's Ben Hunt's contract at Dragons worth again?

Overs and unders... what a f**king stupid concept that merkins shoehorn into justifying their hate

Foran, Watmough and Scott were signed by the old board.
And I see you have your typical deathrider hat on when reporting what we signed them for
The only article with figures for Scott was $1.5M for 3 years.here is 1
https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/s...l/news-story/19a6a891a2bf55c9fe67e886bdc37dfd
Obviously i don't know exact details but there is also a chance that there were TPA's in that at the time of signing(obviously the whole lot was put on the cap after the cheating) given he was a current origin player and all.
I could also not find any reported figures for Evans at all, and everything is just speculation from fans. The only thing of significance i could find was a quote from BA that said "We’re excited to add more depth to our forward pack".
https://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2017/05/04/parramatta-eels-sign-roosters-prop-kane-evans/
I may be wrong but that quote does not sound like it is about a $500K player, not even a guaranteed first grade spot

Well you would hope so considering we are running dead last.
