Yeah but that's what happens when you haven't got the confidence to play high risk footy...you go back to the basics rather than risk making a bad play in the pursuit of a dangerous one.
Yeah I understand that but a single offload or some enterprising play that isn’t started with a block play would be nice, it’s not like we have have much to lose while we are stonemotherless last

It's a mental thing though. You don't want to be the bloke who f**ks it. Lord knows I've been there, and under a shitload less pressure than these guys too.

There is no way BA is coaching them that way, you can see it for example in the start against Newcastle, or Souths. Or even St George. We are much more expansive when we start fast or when we do get momentum (eg Manly game). The problem comes later, when the players start to tire or the opposition starts to get back in the game. Their first thought is "come on, don't blow this."

But of course that often leads to a decline in the danger levels of your attack and you blow it anyway. See the 2018 Parramatta Eels.

I do wonder, though, when the pressure will be off in their minds. Realistically you're right in that who cares if we lose throwing the footy around as opposed to losing playing safe? These guys aren't set up to think that way, though, as professionals.

No (I hope not anyway). I just read that Newcastle would let him go and I'm not sure which other 6's are off contract

I'd take Watson, actually.

For the right price obviously. Would definitely allow Moses to run the team and wouldn't get in his way, he's a dangerous attacking player and his defence isn't abysmal like Austin.

Off the back of a big Paulo charge with a nice fast Brown or Alvaro run to follow, a guy like Watson could be lethal.

Need to prioritise hooker though IMO. Matt Parcell, please.

I have heard his name mentioned though not sure if it was a serious comment - we may be stuck with Salmon in the 6 next year - who the f**k knows.

Isn’t it the coaches job to ensure he extracts the best out of his players? Resorting to basics will only get you so far.

If @emjaycee is right and Normz won't be an eel in 2019 then that makes it easier for the rest of this season, drop the merkin and let's get on with it...

1. French
2. Gennings
3. Mennings
4. Guth
5. Hoff
6. Hayne
7. Moses

14. Salmon

Edit - FFS, Hoffman has a torn fanny muscle, so he's out. Throw the breakdancer in instead....

I don't think he will drop Norman but it would be good to see how that 1-7 goes. I'd probably still have Taka in the 14 (even though he is a mental genius) instead of Salmon and start Tepai (even though he can't run into a hole).
