Maybe so but he fell on his arse this year and showed that he is probably done at our club. Still probably our best coach in a long time but he failed miserably this year and unless we make the top 4 I cannot see him being retained beyond 2019.

Why are some attached to our coach? He’s here to do a job, and I dare say gets paid handsomely to do so. But he’s failed miserably yet people still want to defend him.

He’s proved he’s too one dimensional in his tactics, his recruitment leaves a lot to be desired for and some of his team selections and substitution are concerning.

So another year lost and the possibility of missing out on a potential replacement. The club lacks leadership from the admin down.

The club isn't going to want to pay him out. And I doubt he'll leave without being pushed. So, he'll be here next year unless BA wants to go.

I'm all for moving BA on if there's a better option. And I don't think we're likely to pick up a coach that's clearly better.

Wayne Bennett looks like to be the best option because of the pending perfect storm occurring in Brisbane. Trent Robinson is an unrealistic target. There's Michael McGuire who I don't think is a bad option and probably most likely.

Yeah I'm sure if Arthur was off contract he wouldn't be here next year. And there's a fair argument he's lost the dressing room. But to say he can't coach is bullshit. Prior to this year's disaster he won 50 games in four seasons. That's the best anyone would do under the circumstances provided by our club. There is almost zero chance we will replace Arthur with someone better.

How has he individually failed miserably? There's been reasons for us not making the 8 this year as was pointed out by the new chairman of the PNRL board and subsequent advertising of various roles that have been created in the footy department for next year. It is now obvious in hindsight that not enough money was spent on the football department.

Team selections can be hampered by salaries. I agree on bench rotation needs to be better and some of the players that he has brought to the club, in particular the higher profile signings like Watmough, and Foran (that was predicted by most to be one of the best signings any club has ever made and I don't think anyone would have predicted how it would have turned out). Others like Gutherson, Brown, Mennings (before this year), De Gois, Gower, Scott have been pretty good imo. Then there's others who've had ups and downs Moses, Vave, Taka, Matagi.

I'm all for giving BA 2019 because whilst he stuck by the club through the crap in 2016 when he could've easily packed his bags and said it was too hard, I don't think the club has stood by BA this year and he was tasked with much more than what most head coaches have to do.

I think this year was definitely the year that BA realised not to trust those who've performed previously. I have a feelinf we'll see more harsh team selections next year.

Trent Robinson only won six games in his fourth season. Was he a worse coach than when he won a premiership in his first year? There's plenty of stuff that is out of the coach's hands, and can't be fixed during the season. Disasters happen. How you respond is what matters.

That wasn’t the point of discussion! Just pointing out we were fairly competitive against the top 8 sides (and I am not saying we had a good year, it was shit terrible!!).
