Exactly. It’s not as simple as sacking the coach.

We need to fix the front of house as a priority. Otherwise, we’ll bring another coach in who will also fail.

Surely several ‘failed’ coaches since BS would have made that really obvious to people.

Maybe...You are guessing though that he will fail and that there is front house issues. You do not know for certain.

I am not 'guessing' that a new coach will fail. I am making an informed prediction based on what history has already told us. That is much more sensible than hoping a new coach on their own will magically result in long term success. Unless a new coach is properly supported it just wont happen.

I am also not 'guessing' that there are front of house issues. We had a salary cap drama which resulted in a voluntary administrator appointed. That person was meant to get some constitutional reforms over the line which have not been entirely delivered. We have a review happening at the moment and the inside information from those who are in the know is that the review will point to some significant front of house issues in relation to resourcing, roles and responsibilities, finances etc etc etc.

He is evidence of Avengers mail:

“The latest rumour doing the rounds involves a coach and his son switching clubs - but not the one that we’ve been hearing.

Forget the Clearys - word is that Shane and Kyle Flanagan could be off to Parramatta in 2020.

The pieces to the jigsaw puzzle all fit nicely - Shane hasn’t been offered a new deal by Cronulla and comes off contract at the end of next season. He is also an ex-Eels player.

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur is under siege and needs a good season to save his job after collecting the wooden spoon this year.

And lastly, the Eels are in need of a halfback and general - and in 18 months, Kyle could fit the bill nicely.

The youngster has been earmarked as an NRL playmaker for the past three seasons and his dad has been bringing him along slowly but surely.

Kyle made his debut in the latter rounds of this season and looked right at home in top company.

It’s far from locked in - but could happen and is one to keep in mind in coming months.”

TLDR: so you admit you're guessing?

I wouldn’t call it evidence but I hope it comes to fruition.

Really it's may not even be front of house, but back of house as in voting members who could have passed the constitutional reforms that supposedly all bar a select few want, and Max would have been on his merry way, leaving the club back in the hands of those said voting members

It's the only one that really makes sense currently in my view.
Is it just a play for more dollars though

Perhaps that’s all that Max and the team were focused on so when it didn’t happen everyone went “Oh, f**k we’ve got a club to run! Do you know a HOF? F**k! Quick, type out this PD that I’ve written on a napkin and FFS, get an ad in the paper ASAP!”

Maybe they're smart enough to realise that simple solutions to complex problems sometimes do more damage than good? It really comes down to what your alternatives are. If you bring in another mid-ranking coach, do we give them 3 years to rebuild (and still have to deal with the fact that it is harder for us to secure TPAs than it is for clubs who weren't caught cheating on them)? You run the risk of starting the old cycle again. At what point that is still the best option.....we'll never know.

He’s been here for 5 years and picked up his first spoon. At what point do we say enough is enough? We’ve giving him free reign to sign several players for next year and beyond, yet he’s not guaranteed to being here in 2020. If we sign a new coach for 2020 we’ll need to give him time too, to acquire his own team. We’ll be risking starting the old cycle again. Some of the $$$ he’s paid for players have been ridiculous, and we wonder why we picked up the spoon.

The bad outweighs the good? So you think the club is worse off now than it was at the end of 2013?

No. It’s on par with 2013. This season is one of the worst many fans have had to endure. We’ve still got players on our books we’re looking to offload, players being paid mega $$$, picked up a spoon and playing some really boring and dumb footy.

Glad you’re able to take out positives from this year

Club needs to act immediately and get Flanagan for 2020. We need to act on the situation we have atm, admit there's absolutely no hope of competing for a comp anytime soon and make a move on Arthur.

It could be make or break for gurr.

There's no use playing the wait ans see approach, by then the horse would have bolted

Arthur is a dead man walking
