Maybe someone with more intellect can tell me what "own self interests" means? I've asked chiefy many times but never seems to answer. Surely a coach's "self interests" would be to make the team that they're in charge of stronger?

Watmough was a disastrous signing. A player turning 32 in his first year of a four year deal. That's disgraceful as Parramatta were at the beginning of a rebuilding phase, Watmough was the last player we needed.

It was a selfish signing made by brad to look after his own short term interests and not the long term future of the club. He and other similar signings , are the reason why the club is in need for another major rebuild.

Think of the Bulldogs current rebuild and them offering Aiden Guerra a 4 year contract for example, that would be equivalent to the f-up ba made

Yeah BA was that selfish that he let out most iconic and one in a generation player leave the club a year early to pursue his dream...

FFS, in the 12 years before he joined us, Watmough played on average no less than 23.1 games PER SEASON. What f**king injury history do people keep referring to that BA should have known about?

Jared W-H and Aaron Woods have averaged only 21 per season but you would all sign them tomorrow.
S Burgess averages just over 20, do we not sign him because he is injury prone? Even the great Cam365847 averages only 23.8, including his many finals appearances.

Are any of those blokes about to turn 32 and are we offering up a 4 year deal???

With a bunch of young blokes coming into the team Watmough and Scott were exactly what we needed.

'Major rebuild'? Like the Roosters when they won six games in 2016? Rebuilds can happen very quickly.

Or the Roosters signing a 34 year old Cooper Cronk for one year. Watmough was our best forward while he played with us. Was also our toughest, most experienced, most aggressive and quickest.

You may not remember this because of your issue with short-term memory, but do you recall a certain salary cap issue that occurred between signing Watmough and 2018? I reckon that may have had more to do with why our 2018 performance was as shit as it was than the signing of Watmough in 2015.

And for the record, only 4 forwards have made NRL debuts at our club since we signed Watmough and 3 of them were this year. The other one was Daniel Alvaro and I reckon he benefited more from debuting in a team with Watmough than he would of without.

Was Watmong still in the team by the time Alvaro debuted??? He was injured in the Storm game and the Polar debuted against the Riff later in the season I thought. And we all know he didn’t stick around at training and help the younger blokes because he admitted it himself.

Face it signing a 32 year old on bald tires on a 4 year deal was ridiculous, and to still try and find positives 3 years on after it cost the club over 3m bucks is even more ridiculous.

Thats right you’re correct, I still don’t think it makes it any less of a poor signing on our part. I get we needed leadership and toughness in the pack but word around the traps was his knee was already shot and one of the reasons the Insurance company didn’t pay out. I remember Manly fans on the forum thanking us for taking him off their hands and that he was just about finished.
