Moses is 24 this year. He’s been in first grade for years. It’s a poor comparison with Salmon, who stands to improve significantly at his age and level of experience.

The hope for Moses and Norman was about improved fluency, not individual improvement (though you’d hope for some of that too from a halfback under 30). Instead the pair of them were massive disappointments this year. I understand why they’ve been told not to expect a contract extension.

our problem is merkins not playing to their f**king potential

all the underperforming merkins are off contract too - gives us plenty of options going forward - get your fingers out merkins or f**k off

It’s also about clearing out the shit now so we can work towards the future from next season and not have to wait till 2020

I'd say signing Paulo and Ferguson shows they know exactly what they are doing. These two address our biggest shortfalls, which are go-forward out of our own half, and go-forward near the opposition line.

Why are we hoping for a miracle?

A large part of our squad is only signed until the end of 2019 including our halves (and French, Taka, Alvaro, Hoffman, Manu, Moeroa, Mannah, Jennings and Gutherson).

Is it just a coincidence that around this time, and leading into 2020 that a lot of our promising juniors like kaufusi, Brown, Salmon, GL, Mahoney, Parry, Niukore, Dunster, Stefano, Schneider, Stone have either had a year or 2 of NRL experience or are ready for an NRL start ?

Seems to much of an coincidence to have so many players off contract with a batch of promising juniors ready to be promoted!!

BTW I understand all the above juniors may not be ready or even if they make it but it does allow for a decent rejuvenation of our squad.

Also shopping Jennings, Norman and Moses May mean the plan is progressing better then expected.

We’re hoping for a miracle for someone to take them off our hands.

How can you assume the plan is progressing? What happens if we decide to purchase another ‘star’ half and it too is a typical BA dud signing? Or our junior halves don’t continue to develop.

Rucking the ball out implies running at a set defence with no support. Even Slater doesn’t do that. It’s a winger’s job. Fullbacks can be involved in the kick return without having to run at brick walls. They just pick when to run. They’re not in the team to be bartering rams, whereas plenty of wingers are.

With the potential offloading of our halves, it’s evident the plan thus far has failed. Until I see otherwise or see more stability/better recruiting then I won’t be changing my opinion.

No need to change your opinion like I said it’s a fair assumption. However so is josh’s that they want to be rid of the halves because junior development is ahead of schedule.
