Nah it's all because they signed a 32 year old forward.
But not at the right price.
Why do you think we didn't sign any high-demand players between the salary cap fiasco and now? If you reckon we paid overs for Kane Evans I'd hate to think how much we've paid for Junior Paulo (now we finally have room for him. Or how much we would've had to pay for an even better forward.
Any signing could be a poor signing if you're paying far too much. And overs for a $700k value player would be a lot more than overs for a $250k value player.
Actually, you pay market value for whatever you can afford or you go bankrupt (exceed the cap).Well you pay market value or your perish.

Paying market value when you don't have the money to meet the market price is a bit silly.
Then you have to address why you've got yourself in a position not to be able to pay the market value for the players you need. You've obviously made poor decisions on players you don't
If you built a premiership window in the preceding two years then that's a good enough reason why you might not be in a position to turn over your entire roster when you feel like it. The fact you didn't win a premiership during that window is a separate issue. Then you have to address why you've got yourself in a position not to be able to pay the market value for the players you need. This kind of thing should be obvious, but merkins want to talk like every season is a clean slate, unconnected to previous events. In 2015 our Board and CEO knew we had made some poor decisions and unfortunately their solution cost us a chance at the semi's in 2016 and cost 6 of them their jobs.
Those decisions also meant we needed to "trade out" of that situation by purchasing players of lessor quality than we would have liked (i.e. Vave, Matagi and later Evans), simply because our cash liquidity was reduced.

Except Evans proved his quality over 70+ games with the Roosters. Lussick hadn't even played a full season with Manly when we signed him.Evans we're reportedly paying stupid money, probably Vave and Matagi combined. I don't think this was a 'trade out" signing, this was someone we targeted and paid him far more than he was worth.
The entire signing had "Darcy Lussick x 2" written all over it from the outset.
This is spot on. F**k me there are some dead shits on this forum.Well we had to play a season without any points. We wouldn't have finished bottom four that year either. It sucks getting caught cheating. I'm sure the Sharks and Eels hope they don't get caught again.
Which means you also can't objectively see that winning only six games can happen even to a supposedly high quality coach, with a top four quality squad. If it can happen to them without being the coach's fault why not us?
You also ignore the fact that two of our wooden spoons were picked up by coaches who have never run last at any other club. One of them is even a premiership winner. It's obvious that you are far overstating the influence of the coach. You have a romanticised notion of how much a coach can actually achieve, and you ignore the importance of other resources to winning NRL games.
The DT reported that today.Has anyone got any info on the rumour that we've also told Gutho to look at other opportunities?
A coach is damned if he pays overs for someone to come to our club and damned if he passes on them because they are too expensive. To recruit the players you need they need to be available at the right price. That is out of a coach's hands.

If Gutherson wants fullback money and we don't see him as a fullback (or just have a budget and no TPAs) then we can't match any stupid offer from elsewhere.
impotentI don't get the calling pou, "pau", thing ... am i missing something?
I can only guess those that do it are
a) dyslexic
b) dumb
c) got a really bad sense of humour
d) really bad trolls
e) all of the above
His ranking in the roster depends entirely on the quality of the other forwards in the same roster. You'll note he wasn't necessarily in our top six middle forwards either.Evans proved he was capable of consistently contributing for 20 minutes as the number 6 middle forward in a top 17...he proved nothing more from his 70 plus games. If we wanted him to replicate that here then we should've paid what the number 6 middle forward in top 17 is actually worth, not pay him twice that.
