Yes, he got less at Parra than he was getting at the Titans, I'm not arguing against that, what I'm saying is that the pay he is getting now is closer to his actual worth, and that he was being overpaid at the Titans.

But you were arguing that. You said several times that he didn’t take a pay cut when he obviously did.

OK, lets stop pretending that Haynes move to Parra went like this:
Parra: Hayne please come back to Parra, we only have $500K for you, but we really need you to come back?
Hayne: Oh ok, seeing as you asked nicely, I'll do it.
Parra: Thanks so much, you're the bestest.

He didn't take a pay cut, he wanted out of the gold coast, and back to Sydney & Parra, and he got what we believed he was worth (which was arguable his actual value at the time). Stop talking like it was a charitable or benevolent act on his part.

Regardless of the situation and the reasons why he ended up here. He was on 1.2 (per say) at the titans and is now on 500k (per say) at the Eels. No matter which way you look at it his salary has been lessened, ergo he's taken a pay cut. He could've stayed on the gc on the higher salary.

SMH...

I know what you mean. You don’t know the difference between worth and actual pay.

Do you know the difference? I think you have it arse about, as that is the entire basis of my argument.

Do you know the difference? My whole argument was that his worth is actually matching his pay now...

Parra was paying 500k that seems to be clear.

He was on 1.2 at Titans which also seems clear.

I'd say Hayne had some leverage there with Titans. I am sure given the chance to pay him 300k and have 900k to spend would of been a no brainer for them.
I find it hard to believe he just walked. My guess is he was paid min 200k and max 400k to go.

Who was the winner?
The Panthers. It meant Titans had money to splash and Duke was able to erase one of his mistakes in Cartwrights 500k contract which the Titans picked up in full.

I reckon Hayne would of been getting around 800k in total with expectations of a top 5 finish a big season and landing a 3yr deal on close to 1 mill with a few TPAs
Staying at GC he knew one more poor season would kill any of his future paydays and the Eels looked a far stronger side for 2018. His name was tarnished up there. A poor 2018 and clubs knowing he was turning 31 was a far bigger risk then coming back to the eels. Taking a 400k paycut for the long term future of rebuilding his brand and name at the club where the fans USED to love him.

That was most likely the plan via his manager.

True. Technically it’s a pay cut but it isn’t benevolence on Hayne’s part.

I reckon GC were close to shopping him around given his destructive influence and Hayne clearly didn’t want to be there.

Him coming to Parra was mutually beneficial for both parties (Hayne and GC).

I bet Neil Henry was thrilled for the pair of them...

Klemmer good but over 1 mill? Gee he doesnt even have an offload.
He doesnt bowl guys over just does a lot of work and makes a little bit more meters then your Mannah doing so.
Jnr offers more explosiveness and is a less common style of player.

Vaughn,Tapau,Fifta,Toumaolo are the middle forwards who are real difference makers. Out wide Kikau is a special talent who can destroy a game.

Klemmer on more then 800k is overs.

His worth is whatever the club is willing to pay him, the titans were going to pay him 1.2 in 2018 so that's his worth.

Why did you say this then?

You've explicitly stated he didn't take a pay cut, which he did.

His on field value means he is not worth more then 700k at best. The fact he is 31 and injury prone and a bit of a prick means at 700k its a risk you wouldnt take unless desperate.

Well those legs aren't dark enough for Segeyaro & does Isaac John still play?
Must just be pro bono advertising by one of their mates

Edit - plus you can clearly see a wedding ring so it clearly ain't Norman. The only ring he has on his finger is....

At the end of the day , this inalbility to control the salarycap and possibly not have enough to to sign JH could well be the final nail for a lot of supporters.
I am in Hawaii and have had texts from family and from a long term fans saying that if they allow JH leave they have had enough of following such a poorly run team, it's so disappointing that they will switch off.
While there will be the usual people who say that their attitude is not good enough, we should have a real good look at the the current CEO. To say he has been anything but a big disappointment is an understatement. Don't like to suggest it , but BA was apparently involved in cap, management , what a f**k up when they stuffed it so bad that they can't manage it so a player that actually wants to play for the club ,and despite some failing is loved by the majority, is forced to possibly move elsewhere.
It's a really bad look for the club and they will lose a major part of the trust and unwavering support that they had.
There's a lot of truth here that we tend to ignore as rusted on fans, the CEO needs to come out and provide an explanation no matter how unpalatable, these are dark times despite the new stadium and signings.
