As I said Josh it depended who was the most desperate club, as usual we were. Now we're left with one, yes one, experienced half. Good luck for next year's performance!

This is why we're stuck with probably an under-performing Mennings for another year at $800k. He wanted to leave Roosters as was sick of travelling from Castle Hill to training. His other club options were Panthers (highly unlikely they'd take him back) or Bulldogs (same travelling problems) so Parra WAS the only club. But what did we do, panic, panic, pay $800k (which is huge coin for any centre btw) and give him an option IN HIS FAVOUR! Wtf no wonder we're a joke.

Same with Watmough, 4 years for a 32yo, same with Foran $1.2m with a $1m get out of jail free card if HE WANTED TO LEAVE, not if the club wanted him to leave. And the joke goes on and on!
You don’t think we’re desperate?

And all those contracts you’ve mentioned were signed when we had a good amount of (illegal) TPAs to keep costs down under the cap. Now we have f**k all TPAs you’ll find we’re a lot more careful about having big money players at our club. I doubt Mennings will be retrained.

Well that was to other obvious option but as usual bet we didn't even think of it. When will we stop being a desperate club????????
We have decent long term centre prospects at the club so that we don't have to take on Lafai the Mennings clone or sulking because he didn't get selected for Origin Aitken. But as usual you didn't think of that.
I'm sure there would have been some newspaper report of it if it had happened.
Why would the papers care if we considered requesting anyone in return for Norman? In fact, it's fairly obvious they'd sell more papers to your hysteria by leaving it out even if it did happen

You don't think Mennings will need another vocation to pay the bills when he retires?

And don't get me started on why BA signed Andrew Davey, a 27yo journeyman, and re-signed Gower. They're taking up 2 roster spots that could/should have gone to our juniors or better quality imports.

Think you may need a Bex and a good lie down.....

Can you give examples of this? I've never seem him throw a "tizzy" in a game and lose it all by himself.

I know I'm gonna get labelled a "Moses apologist" or whatever but I don't like it when people get unjustly vilified because it's become a meme to hate on them.

You're probably going to reference that one time Moses was caught yelling at Kenny Edwards during a game for being slow in the play the ball. And if yelling at a team mate to play the ball faster is "chucking a tizzy" then every half in the NRL should be doing that. We should be thankful that he cares that much that he's gonna blast a player for being lazy.

But hey, it's cool to hate Moses, cause the Tigers fans said so, right?

I'm no fan of Moses, but I agree - Moses saw an opportunity to put a play on, and relied on getting quick ball.

Unfortunately, Kenny was being...well, Kenny...and he took too long to play the ball; Moses reacted by screaming at the dumb prick to get up, and play the ball.

I'm no fan of his, but that was warranted, imo.

I'd be far more concerned if the halfback WASN'T getting up someone in that situation.

His job is to take charge FFS

Mennings should have been "Run out of Dodge" mid last season. He wasnt just poor. He was pathetic. Id have got Beau Scott to do that thing he does to him. I cant believe we didnt find a way to get him outta the place. Good clubs seem to find a way. I bet BA picks him every week again. There is no coming back from how bad that bloke was last year.

A half always had the authority to scream at his players.

Even though he is a peanut and I’m glad he is going I see no reason why we would allow Norman to leave unless we

A. Have someone else in mind for a position where we have a need like prop or centre, or

B. Dylan Brown is ready and will more than likely have a debut year like Tim Smith in 2005.

Well we had $50k worth given by businesses wanting to piss their money away, or are you guys implying that we are still illegitimate and rorting?

So if we can agree that some businesses do actually give LEGITIMATE TPA's, then why wouldn't the better run clubs and the one city clubs be able to attract many more dollars for their players?

We are just in my opinion unbelievably bad at attracting legitimate benefactors like other clubs can. Which is very depressing when a crappy little isolated club like Cronulla who is as unpopular to the general public as the Chavs who follow them can attract over $200k worth of these TPA's.

We definitely need to start winning again otherwise it will only get worse.

Yes or he can upgrade some kids that he needs to tie down.

Plenty of successful and reputable local business in the Sutherland Shire who most importantly pay their bills.

The $50k registered against us, could in fact be M Jennings Nike deal. Even though he brought that with him from when he was at the Roosters, it is a "proper" TPA in which the agreement is between the corporate and the player. NRL rules do however require details to be submitted each year by the club, so as to confirm there is no association between the provider and the club. Club CEO and/or Director are required to sign off a TPA submission that states there is no conflict of interest, etc. etc.

Oh so you agree there are legit TPA's, it's just that we can't seem to get any where as others do get legit ones.

Mmmm...

Derp. Winning is the currency of the NRL.

The Sharks are the latest to be pinged for fake invoices.

Even For successful teams, its hard for local businesses to throw money down the drain with TPAs. Very little corporate exposure for the cash offers a poor return for the marketing dollar. Other than a cashed up one eyed supporter, why would you ? For the scoreboard announcement introducing Tim Manah “sponsored by Con’s Fish Shop Toongabbie” ?
