Only way I see BA putting egg on Avengers face is with a top 8 finish.

I expect us to win about half of our games each year, with luck accounting for plus or minus up to about half a dozen wins. That could mean a top four finish or it could mean a wooden spoon. I don’t think the coach makes a huge difference.

Coaches probably do have a use by date at a given club, but there are also benefits to having consistency of strategic vision at a sporting organisation. Which doesn’t necessarily refer to the coach.

I know not everyone agrees with me but I have always been of the view that we need an experienced coach with a good track record to replace BA.

Otherwise, it will only result in a short term rebound and the issues that have plagued every coach since Smith will ultimately catch up with the new guy.

Robbo would be a good option but I can’t see it ever happening.

That said, how would he go at Parra where he won’t have Uncle Nick there to click his fingers and give him everything he needs? Bernie still hasn’t even worked out how to click his fingers, let alone make all the shit happen afterwards.

If we can’t snag a quality, experienced NRL coach then someone like Hollbrook is the next best option.

Not sure why many on here have a love affair with Brian Smith. Sure he had us competitive but except for 2001 he never had us in another g/f despite being here for about 9 years.

I'd like a coach that can get us to a g/f on a fairly regular basis with an actual chance of actually winning us one.

True. He wasn’t the greatest coach in the world, but he’s the greatest coach at Parra in the last 25 years.

Have we had a better one since he left?

I keep hearing great things about Mick Potter. A mate of mine who knows him reckons he is a great person and is so glad he is getting another go at NRL level all be it as an assistant. He reckons that tactically he is as good as most and will do wonders for our team.

Always liked Potter and with a weaker team than they are now had them in line for the finals before Farrah had a dummy spit. Glad he's at our club and if becomes next coach I wouldn't be disappointed, that is until he starts losing.

Do you think that’s a function of the coach or something else?

Ricky Stuart took the Roosters to three straight grand finals, winning about half of them. Was it all down to his coaching? Did his coaching have much at all to do with it?

It would have beeen good if they gave Daniel Anderson support after he took us to the 09 GF. That’s when the rot started which coincided with a bunch of Mediterranean Descendants seizing power.

What I don’t get, is the nit picking of posts, in an attempt to win an argument/prove who’s smarter on a damn forum about RL. People come here after a hard days work to read the latest news or rumours. And guaranteed there’ll be someone trying to hammer his point across.

If nobody argued the forum would lose its touch imo. Its the arguments , banter and abuse that keeps us on here. Reality is we MAY sign one player between now and when season kicks off and when we do it will be on some sort of news at worse 5 mins after on here so it makes the forum irrelevant.

The eventual failure of every coach since Anderson is solid evidence that he wasn't the problem. But the fact he never coached again after being sacked by Parra is a fair argument in favour of not retaining him.
