Hey Glenn who is your back 5.?
I know there is a bit of conjecture whether its French or Gutho at full back.
But i'm hearing Salmon has/ been killing it this pre season in opposed sessions at Center.
If this is correct then you would have to say Salmon might get a start there meaning Gutho to fullback..!
Your thoughts.?
I'm a French fan and was disappointed by his dummy spit this season when moved to wing. A player of his speed and great skill is wasted on the wing imo and needs to be fullback. Our lack of tactics and punch from the forwards has so far restricted his effectiveness. I'm expecting the forwards to provide a decent platform this year. Gutho can only play 2 positions imo which is centre or fullback and we are short of suitable backups for both positions so far (although Ferguson has played both) My backs are:
1. French
2. Ferguson
3. Mennings/Salmon*
4. Gutho/Salmon*
5. Sivo/Gennings
6. Gutho/Salmon*
7. Moses
I'm not expecting Dylan Brown to get a run to probably after 30 June when our coach, whoever that is, bloods him for next year.
*Salmon is an interesting prospect. Has represented in age based junior rep teams at 5/8th but was steady but not anything special so far when promoted. The movement of Norman has imo greatly weakened our halves. If Gutho picked for 5/8th Salmon will most likely partner Mennings at centre (his form can't be as bad this year, surely) otherwise Salmon to 5/8th and Gutho centre. Apparently Parry has played centre and hope, but doubt, he'll be promoted to top 30 this year but may make development squad.

Another less likely option is Dylan Brown to half and Moses to 5/8th and Gutho at centre paired with Menning or Salmon.

But yeah like you said, everyone’s got opinions and I know what I’ve been told, he will never play NRL. So you believe what you want mate.
That's a very big statement to make considering he is training with NRL squad. Why would the club do this if he is incapable of playing NRL?

Fair enough. Have you dropped Mannah altogether? I wouldn't. I don't really see a leader in that pack. Not sure I see a stand out leader in the backs either. Maybe Gutherson.
Mannah may be co-captain but he was never a leader. The refs completely dismiss him and wave him away when he approaches but talk to every other captain, particularly Cam Smith, like they are buddies. Gutho lives and breathes RL and is the leader by both actions and deeds. Mannah can be captain of Wenty and will be promoted if injuries hit badly. Would now be 5-6 best middle forward imo.

All the forwards need to provide punch, not just one, but you can almost guarantee BA will pick him ahead of more worthy prospects. Both Alvaro and Kaufusi have bulked up over the off season to now be around 115kg so big boys. Alvaro is slowly developing a handy offload and Kaufusi I'm sure would have gained confidence from his stint at the end of the season. I'm expecting big things from him. Terepo provides up tempo energy and also developing a handy offload and hopefully Evans comes good. Imo plenty of better prospects so wonder where Mannah will fit in. I only expect him to feature once the inevitable injuries hit, but BA, and you obviously, have other ideas.

I dont like Mannah but his form was excellent from the bench last season. Even my old man said its best he seen him play

I cant disagree with your logic. Will be a few selection headaches for BA which is a good thing.!

Actually it doesn't matter a snot what my ideas are. BA never listens to me. But you can bet your nuts that Mannah will be in the top 17 this year if he is available. And you will no doubt use this as proof that BA is a f**kwit no matter how well he is playing.

BA does not release Norman without being confident of a half like Brown or Salmon capable of doing a good job.
His balls are on the line and his coaching career. He isn't only doing it for the long term sucess of the team but for his own career.
I highly doubt Brown is not in Halves. Gutherson is training at fullback and Salmon in centres.

It's possible that French, Salmon and Brown are fighting for two spots. I wonder if Gutherson might play in the halves ahead of Salmon, with the latter in the centres (if picked).

Salmon is training at centre and been winning multiple sprints.
Gutherson will start at 1, where he trains.
Dylan Brown and Moses are the only halves in the squad, and would surprise if they didn't start.
Oregon has been very impressive , Mannah great trainer but has been dominated a little in contact drills.
French has alternated between wing and fb, Greg Leiusiau off the pace.
Sivo, Manu, Evans mainly on recovery drills to start contact on return.
Just my observation, if it differs from anyone else's opinion no surprise.

Ta DB. I reckon Mennings is a huge concern. His defence had always been his strong suit which was borderline hopeless last season. How is his speed? Given his passing game has always been an issue, he wouldnt be in my side, yet it appears a certainty he will be first center picked. People are quick to dismiss Mannah but no player fell from the perch like Mennings last season.
Gutho and Salmon would be my 3 and 4. Thoughts?

Suicide mission. Gutherson should not waste his talent in a position he is hopless at. Let him master one.

For me if Browns not in the halves id give the other spot to W.Smith.

If Salmon has been winning sprints, and we know he has halves experience, is he some chance at fullback, even if it's not just yet?
