Did the cap only go up for us, and only at the last minute? Very lucky for the five players who got new contracts at that time. The salary cap also had an unprecedented jump of $2.4m.
I already said $200k-$300k.I'd say $250-$300K. What's your guess, $150-200K?
Sorry. I have you on ignore.I already said $200k-$300k.
I think your depth chart is too rigid. There would not be the same number of levels as players. Instead there would be fewer levels with multiple players filling each level. The top level would just consist of the genuine top 17 players, including Paulo, Alvaro, Brown and Moeroa. Until he shows otherwise I consider Mannah to be part of this group as well. At the bottom are the genuine backups (only to be used in an injury crisis) like Stone. In the middle are players like Evans and Terepo. Who gets the nod out of these merkins depends on form and fitness, two things that fluctuate throughout the season.I’ll also throw into the debate the fact we were serious about bringing Burgess into the squad, which would have made Evans even less likely to be play first grade. Even at that conservative $250k mark, that’s far too much cap space tied up in your 8th middle. If not already, Kaufusi may take over him and Stefano could be anything by midway through the season. As it stands I reckon this is the likely pecking order:
Paulo
Alvaro
Brown
Mannah
Terepo
Tep/Mau/Lane’s minutes in the middle
Evans
Kaufusi
Stefano
Gower
Stone
If we needed his height that badly he wouldn’t have played reserve grade.Evans was targeted because of his height. It doesn't make any sense to do that if you think he is only depth. You target a player you're confident will make the team.
He had to play reserve grade to get fit. Anyway, this sounds like BA was thinking Evans was more than just depth. If we needed his height that badly he wouldn’t have played reserve grade.
Nah we targeted him specifically for Height and Depth. He had to play reserve grade to get fit. Anyway, this sounds like BA was thinking Evans was more than just depth.

However Arthur rates Evans' addition as just as important as the code-hopper, arming the Eels with a weapon other teams will fear charging out of the middle of a smallish forward pack.

It’s all about the girth....and girth
No it didn’t. Which means plenty of other clubs would have had cash to push his price up.Did the cap only go up for us, and only at the last minute? Very lucky for the five players who got new contracts at that time.
I wouldn’t knowIt’s all about the girth.
Terepo played 20 games last year, missing the first 3 games through suspension, whereas Evans played 8 games. In 2018 at least, I think Terepo has to be considered a genuine top 17 player. He would be worth around that $250-$300 figure IMO with the cap increase. K.evan not so much.I think your depth chart is too rigid. There would not be the same number of levels as players.
