They've always had a handful of cheap nuffies in their top 17. It's because they have a top dozen or so plus another ten depth players fighting for the remaining spots. Just because you play a lot of footy for the Roosters doesn't mean you're on big money. They get a fringe player on the cheap, use him in the top 17, then don't match the offer when another club offers him what he's worth (e.g. Evans, Matterson).

BA has stuffed up the roster and overpaid players, that is a given, leaving us little flexibility in getting the balance right for this year. We have too many fringe first graders on good money and only for 2020 will we get rid of most of the deadwood. Also the HoF and board appear to be adopting a hard line stance on overpaying players so maybe we'll get a decent squad soon putting us into a premiership window some time before I die (or another 20 years, whatever comes first).

Even if Evans was on 300k so what. He certainly is worth 150k-200k Whats a 100k mistake? MJ and Moses are currently on 500k overs and Manu maybe 200k overs for what giving.
But this happens in every team. Players have good form and you have then on unders then pay them big and risk paying them overs.

Yep. Every club has players that offer less than they're getting paid. The trick is to have more players on unders than overs. The trick to this is developing juniors worth promoting. Looks like we're finally there.

Who were the ones reportedly shopped around? Not Evans or Hoffman. If others were unwanted it's because they are on big overs, like we've already said (Norman, Moses, Jennings) or in the case of French, because he's half the player he was before he wrecked his hamstring.

Todd actually refused to acknowledge that the NRL have even registered his contract. So sounds like he is in limbo until the Sharks cull a player before Rnd1.

We made our offer. Now he's free to negotiate with other cubs. If we were willing to pay more we would've done it before the player went on the market.
