IIRC he played a bit of versatile role with Tigs. Hooker and spelled backrowers time to time. Fairly sizeable but obviously don’t want it every week. But until Mahoney is genuine 80mins, McIlwrick isn’t a completely wasted bench option, like Smith feels to be

And BA does likely carrying a second hooker and using them as a middle forward (to pick up our line speed)
He certainly does, but I don't remember it being too successful after Peats left.
In his final season with the Tigers (four games so, sample size) he only split minutes with the other dummy half in the 17. I started looking at his 2017 stats (he played over 20 games) and early on he was starting with Littlejohn replacing him off the bench. Again, their numbers added up to the total game minutes, indicating he only played dummy half. But then I got tired of it and did something else.IIRC he played a bit of versatile role with Tigs. If it was somebody's job those TPAs wouldn't be legal, would they? Don't you read the news?
IIRC Peats hadnt been re signed beyond the season in which he was punted so theres no guarantee he was wanted anyway. I reckon we were looking elsewhere but Todds mate put an end to that plan. BA appeared more than happy with IDG and Kaysa. He certainly does, but I don't remember it being too successful after Peats left.

Well the you know what you need write itApparently McIlwrick has signed:
Cos no team does ... we arent any different ... i reckon there are only a small number of players who get legit tpasExactly. So the question is why has Parramatta never seemed to be able to (legally) utilise the avenue of TPA's in any meaningful way?
I think it’s because the type of people who provide them have been put off by the factionalism in our club in recent years. Business owners who provide TPAs want to buy into the club on a personal level, beyond the business relationship implied by a sponsorship.Exactly. It’s pointless spending that much to form relationships with the board, CEO and coach when they could all be replaced by their enemies in two years time.
Im picturing Baz fielding at mid wicket tapping away on his phone on the forum as the game goes on around him ... lol
No argument there Poo. Ive been critical of our inability to secure TPAs but on second thoughts you need a product to sell and lets face it, we are trying to sell yesterdays product. I cant think of any player, based on last season, who Id associate with success. Our greatest hope is for the new breed realising their potential. They are yet to be tainted.I think it’s because the type of people who provide them have been put off by the factionalism in our club in recent years. Ok so maybe he didn’t but he ain’t small so couldIn his final season with the Tigers (four games so, sample size) he only split minutes with the other dummy half in the 17. A tired Mahoney is a better hooker than Smith. Smith is on the bench as injury cover I.e. an inefficient use of a bench spotSmith can give Mahoney a 15 min spell and also insurance if anyone for 1-7 goes down.
Mcillwrick will only play if Mahoney is injured.
3 x Bench forwards is plenty if have guys who are capable of long mins.
