I agree with this. Gutho had a good-excellent 2017. He’s a good player but nowhere near elite at this point in time.

And you have to remember that Gutho rejected the deal. Not the idea of staying.

Basically he knows his 2018 wasn't as good as his 2017 and he's hoping he goes a lot better this year and earns a better offer

IIRC his manager is Ayoub. I’m sure he knows he can squeeze out a few more dollars if need be.

I'm at cricket. Google it yourself.

The bloke has been pushed out of Penrith for being a twat off the field. He was with Norman when he was snapped having dinner with crims. He's been in several "videos" with Norman. I believe he was with Norman the night he got nabbed with pills.

If he's such a fantastic player why was he only signed up a few weeks ago? Do you seriously believe there aren't other issues at play?
Im picturing Baz fielding at mid wicket tapping away on his phone on the forum as the game goes on around him ... lol

Not sure it’s bad news for Reedy. McIlwrick is clearly a depth player journey man. Just what we need, but he won’t be first choice rake.

I assume the bad news for Mahoney I’d from a SuperCoach POV. I actually think it’s good news on Mahoney. Less pressure on him without the pressure of someone usurping him (well not yet anyway)

You must be right because who on Earth would think it would be good news for Damien Cook?

Did you say ONE bad season :joy:
2017 was our first top four finish since 2005. In 2016 we won 13 competition games (the most since 2007). The four years before that we had Sandow in our defensive line.

2018 was bad, and worse from the fans' point of view because they don't understand why, to the point where many assume it's the norm.

Paulo would need to play his best every week to justify what we'd be paying him.

Yep. Every club has players that offer less than they're getting paid. The trick is to have more players on unders than overs. The trick to this is developing juniors worth promoting. Looks like we're finally there.

No he does not. He needs to play well to help us win games to get too finals then play at his best for 3-4 weeks to have a chance of winning it...

When we had guth, manu, brown, semi,KE all where on unders for some time.

Guys like Moses and MJ are risky cause never get any unders value.

Good thing about having a poor year is getting to sign guys in squad on unders. Things would suck if we come last and where in a salary cap mess like 2012/2013. But we are not. We have a stack of cash already, a heap of good juniors and all players who cost a lot off contract end of season. We are actualy inna very strong position.

Nor will he break the bank or ‘upset’ our cap. I like this signing if true.
Good defender and seemingly not made of glass. If he can play 20 minutes to give Reed a breather, and no doubt costing bugger all you'd think then yeah, not much wrong with this signing. Best thing is you'd think he comes here knowing his role and won't be trying to do too much which is my criticism of Will Smith and Cam King when they slotted in...

For those who have Kayo, McIlwrick played the last 20m of the Charity Shield.

He’s ok. Throws a good pass. He plays a bit flat footed, so don’t expect any flashy stuff around the ruck. He’ll be ok if Reedy needs a break. I would not necessarily think that he’ll be an automatic selection in the 17. If we play a team who are sloppy around the ruck Smith might get the gig.
