On the back of a better team performance, Mennings will have a decent year this year, but I agree, he's the past, not the future, so not a priority. His days pulling big coin in the NRL are done, if re-signed should be on journeyman coin.
Give Gutho Mennings money even if its a pie and coke and promote a junior or find a goal kicking center.

You mad? $300k max seems about right. We have centres coming thru, Parry for instance or someone on the open market. Maybe Lomax who is a sharp shooter with the boot, almost guarantee 6 points every time a try scored. When was the last time we had a decent goal kicker? 2001?
Gutho’s worth plenty more than the average NRL salary ($300k) but I agree we shouldn’t go crazy. I reckon 550-600k is fair.

Barring injury, I reckon by round 12, those of you here not so fussed about the King's re-signing will be screaming bloody murder at the club if they haven't locked him in to a deal yet.

If he stays on the field, his value on the open market is only gonna go up, and by a fair whack. For mine the only downside risk he presents is his injury history, everything else is upside,

Good passing game, good defence, always in support, great attitude, decent back-up goal kicker. There's no way I'd be happy with losing him, he's the sort of player you build a good culture from.

Gutho's resigning does not only revolve around money, the retention of BA for him and several others is important. Whenever a player talks about joining, or like Gerorge B possibly signing, it seems to be the vision and club from speaking to BA that is a major feature

Fans only see the negatives, much like the assumptions on players salaries, exaggerated.

Gutho = 450 maximum
Past injuries put him in the higher risk bracket. His pace isn't express which most of the best fullbacks are.

$300k is a joke offer for Gutho. He is easy worth close to double that.

Moses is kicking at 85% this season. You’ll struggle to get better than that.

Why are you talking about Lomax when he is signed until end 2020 ?

Gutho's had 22 games for us at fullback, so less than a season, as for his injury risk, despite the injuries he's had he's missed only 12 games total in three and a bit years, so he's averaging just over 20 games per season.

This is his year to prove his worth, he's finally got a full pre season under his belt, training at full back, he will kill it I reckon.

Spot on with everything here, Gutho would be insulted at $300k, he would almost certainly tell us where to go.

I would give him $600k and people say he isn't fast but has anyone noticed this year that his fully fit that he is everywhere, you don't need to necessarily be quick if your super fit like him.

Moses is kicking well, so I don't see why people are complaining.

And why is there a fascination with Lomax on here, when he is struggling to get a run at the Dragons? Yes he does look okay but people don't realise how important Jennings defence is, people forget very easily.

I don't think Gutho is that slow, he just doesn't have that lightning acceleration off the mark that guys like Tedesco have (in saying that, acceleration off the mark is more valuable than speed)

I also think he is quicker than we may think as well. Not as quick off the mark as Tedesco and others but he is far from as slow as some are suggesting.

Depending on what happens with Dylan Walker, I could see Gutho being targeted by Manly to play centres. I've always had this feeling that he would end up back in a Manly jersey...

Brent Read spoke to Mark O'Neil and he has said that the club want to offer new deals to Moses and M.Jennings, Also said Gutho tests the market and gives Parra first option.

Probably makes sense, as Gutho’s value may be hard to determine. Do other clubs see him as a fullback and are offering him fullback money or do they see him as a centre who can play fullback.

Are we talking about Gutherson? $600k max for him, but only if he was to play fullback. The thing is, because he can play fullback he will want fullback money.

As for Jennings, he is probably worth no more than $300k or $400k, but then clubs pay a bit more for experience, especially when they need it, as we do.

That final point also applies to Gutherson somewhat. Part of his price is a premium for attitude and leadership. This is the sort of thing that boost's a player's price beyond just what he provides on the field.
