The Clint Gutherson situation at Parramatta is set to highlight the lack of power the club is giving coach Brad Arthur.

Gutherson was made an offer well below market value, which was rejected. It was late last year and the Eels have boldly now withdrawn that offer. The Eels are trying to do things by the book after their salary cap cheating, but they now have a retention committee of five, who are all qualified but can’t seem to make a decision.

It’s quite amazing to think that they have about $700,000 to spend on players for this season.

I gotta be honest - I'm not fussed on Gutherson.

Busy player, but that's it, imo.

He's certainly not a bad player, by any means.

But I feel we can do better...

I want him to stay. Not just for his ability but also for his attitude. That has value too. But I don't think he's a great fullback. He does have superhuman fitness though.

Brent Read spoke to Mark O'Neil and he has said that the club want to offer new deals to Moses and M.Jennings, Also said Gutho tests the market and gives Parra first option.

Barring injury, I reckon by round 12, those of you here not so fussed about the King's re-signing will be screaming bloody murder at the club if they haven't locked him in to a deal yet.

If he stays on the field, his value on the open market is only gonna go up, and by a fair whack. For mine the only downside risk he presents is his injury history, everything else is upside,
